Cani Lupine (real name Michael Edward Herman;[1] born September 17, 1987),[2] is a fursuiter, babyfur, photographer, and self proclaimed US libertarian who lives in Hampshire County, West Virginia, USA.[3][4]

Fandom involvement

Cani Lupine has been around the furry fandom since 2006, whereas he was a member of the old Yiffstar forums. He is an avid photographer, taking nature photos and catching fursuiters performing.

Cani Lupine's fursuit was created by FurItUp in 2013.

Controversy

Cani Lupine has gathered infamy within the fandom for utilizing violent rhetoric towards those within the transgender community[5] (furry or not), using racist language and violent threats against other furs,[6] as well as calling for both the killing of non-furfandom civilians[7] and of mainstream law enforcement personnel,[8] all of which resulted in him being banned from furry conventions like Fur the 'More.

Hate groups ban

On May 15, 2018, Cani Lupine's Fur Affinity account, along with several others, including personal and group accounts related to AltFurry (FurRight), Furry Raiders and other perceived Alt-Right connected accounts, was banned from the site for presumedly violating Fur Affinity's Code of Conduct, entry 2.7, updated on September 4, 2017, which states:[9]

Free Fur All

On September 15, 2021, the AWOO Association posted that the initial venue for the upcoming 2022 Free Fur All anthro convention was no longer available, [10] blaming the "intolerant dark side of the anthro fandom" for its loss.

Furry members opposing AWOO and their con blamed AWOO's loss of venue on itself, particularly on the acts of some of its (perceived) staff members threatening, while on social media, users with acts of threats and violence.

AWOO responded to the accusations by pointing out that these flagrant posts were made by non-AWOO staff people (in particular users Cani Lupine and KKKlyde) on their X accounts.

Domestic terrorism

In July 2022, Michael Edward Herman was arrested by the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security, and charged with making terroristic threats[1][11][12] via his public X account against West Virginia elected officials as a result of the state's then-pending abortion legislation:

The investigation involved West Virginia Capitol Police, the West Virginia Fusion Center, and the Romney Detachment of the West Virginia State Police. He was apprehended during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 50 in the Augusta area, and initially detained at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail with a bond set at $32,012.[13] The arrest warrant was issued in Kanawha County.[14]
