ConFuror (abbreviated CFR) is the first furry convention in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, is the biggest convention of the country and the biggest Hispanic-speaking. It has been organized by Vidafur since 2008, originating in an event called Furmeet Guadalajara.
History
In mid-2008, a small group of furries from the city of Guadalajara decided to organize a furmeet at the same time they created the organization Vidafur. Since then, they organized several meets under the name "Furmeet Guadalajara". In 2017 they created the first event in form of a furry convention named "Furs in Space" from August 4-6; 170 furs attended, and it was considered by the Mexican furry community to be a success.
After "Furs in Space" it was decided to take the next step forward. On December 22, 2017, it was announced that "Furmeet Guadalajara" would change its name to "Confuror"[1] and become a new, full-fledged furry convention in Mexico in 2018, set to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Vidafur.
2018
On March 29, during an interview on Anthro Furry Radio, the organizing team revealed the convention's theme and dates, the official theme being "The Howling Gala", a theme based on the prohibition era of alcohol in the early 20th century, but instead of alcohol, "Awooing" being the banned activity. The convention took place October 12-14, 2018 at the Laffayette Hotel, with 541 attendees.[2]
Confuror was the first furry convention in Mexico to officially support a charity; Rescate Zarigüeyal (Opossum Rescue) benefited from this edition, with $9,044.50 MXN raised (~$470 USD).[3]
2019
Given that the convention in 2018 was larger than expected, and that due to civil protection and zoning ordinances hotel attendance was limited to 450, leaving out many potential attendees, it was decided that for 2019 the convention will move to the Fiesta Americana Hotel. Initially, Confuror was announced to be taking place at the Hotel Hilton Expo Guadalajara, but on December 22, 2019, the new site was announced in a video uploaded to Cofuror's social media. The decision was based on better convention space, a more convenient location, better hotel room prices, and capacity for up to 4,000 people in the future.
The convention took place on October 11-13, 2019. Majira Strawberry and Fox Amoore were this 2019 edition Guests of Honour; the official circus theme being "Mr. Maw's Mysteria Freakshow". 310 attendees registered in an Early-Bird flash sale on January 15."Many thanks to all those interested in registering Early Bird and congratulations to those who obtained one of the 310 places available." The convention ended up as a complete success, with 1118 attendance more than 75 artist between Dealers den and Artist alley participated, up to 35 volunteers, and 5,69% of the attendance was international, they raised a total of MXN $54,049 pesos to charity, approximately (USD $2900) to support UMA Coatepec Harinas, during closing ceremonies they announced 2020 convention theme as: "LUCHA LIBRE" (wrestling) and first Guest of honor: JibKodi
