FURSAverance is South Africa's first virtual furry convention.

Born out of necessity due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, some of the organizers and members of South Afrifur got together and arranged the convention.[1] The convention was started in South Africa but is open to anyone to join.

Past Conventions[edit]

  • FURSAverance #1, was the first ever FURSAVerance convention, taking place on June 27 to 28 2020, there were an estimated 220 viewers and 14 different panels. It managed to raise more than $1150 for Husky Rescue a local South African charity.[1]
  • FURSAverance #2 was held March 20-21, 2021. $2113 was raised [2] for Pawesome Wacky Whiskers Rescue and Rehoming.

Mascot[edit]

FURSAverance's mascot is Matimba,[3] a feisty and cunning ratel. His name means "strong" in Xitsonga. His species was chosen as they are known for their resilience.
