Tanabi/Kopa

I posted my references (including a book where the first couple of paragraphs blatantly describe Kopa as Simba and Nala's cub) for Kopa being a more canonical version of Tanabi on Talk:Tanabi. Spaz Kitty 03:24, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm... I'm still doubtful the most recent changes (both to Tanabi and Kiara) are the best or most accurate way to present the material, but I don't want to get into an editing war over it either. The feeling I get from the current version is as if it is trying to describe two separete characters as if they were the same character. Would you be agreeable to creating a separate article for Kopa? I'm also thinking the "Who was the cub?" section of Kiara might ought to be broken out into its own article, though we'd have to figure out what to call it and how to categorize it. --mwalimu 13:12, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

But in some respects, Tanabi and Kopa are the same character. They're both names for the cub at the end of TLK1, as Tanabi was the fan-name used for him before the book with Kopa in it was released. Spaz Kitty 02:20, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

The Lion King cub

I've finished an initial attempt at edits to The Lion King/Who was the cub? and some cleanup to Tanabi, as well as minor edits to Kopa and Kiara, that I hope covers all the bases. Please take a look and see if you think everything looks okay. Protected articles

Regarding the protects I put on four articles a few minutes ago, I only set them to 'registered users only', not to 'sysops only'. I'm not sure how much it will help - some of today's vandalizers were registered, and if people want to vandalize WikiFur they will probably just go after other articles. But maybe it will help a little, and at least keep the front page clean. --mwalimu 00:15, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

fiction-stub reclassification

She did it because it wasn't in the right ordering for works with "The" at the front. Facts in itself, is neutral. And it is fact that it was Kiara at the end of Lion King. Those who believe it's not is just delusional. How to do bot vandal rollbacks

In cases of mass vandalism (page blanking and the like) it is acceptable to use the "bot" rollback method. To do this, go to the user's contribution page by clicking their name or IP address in the userlist, then add &bot=1 to the URL (or ?bot=1 if there is no ? already in the URL). Press enter to reload that URL, and then just open all the rollback links in new tabs. Thanks for doing the merge. By the way, if someone makes changes while you're editing, it warns you, but then if you save, you clobber your own changes, not the other person's. (So, you can copy your changes first before saving, and then do a merge.) I don't think I clobbered your changes, but... sometimes I make mistakes. Search

Just wondering - how do you control the appearance of the links on the left side of the screen, in particular the search box?

I'm asking not on account of anything to do with WikiFur, but because of a different wiki where I've started doing some edits. On that wiki there is only a search button, and below that you can select to search that wiki, or a Google web search. I would like to suggest to the admins of that wiki that they consider changing it to the Go and Search buttons like we have here on WikiFur. --mwalimu 22:30, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Kacey Miyagami Legal Issues

I posted the following on Talk:Kacey Miyagami a couple of days ago and was wondering if you have any thoughts on it. My thoughts are that it's probably not worth doing if the article is likely to be unlocked within a few days, but if this could drag on for a while...

If the article (Kacey Miyagami) is likely to have to remain locked for more than a few days, I would like to suggest temporarily moving the Legal Issues section to a separate article, e.g. Kacey Miyagami/Legal Issues. I'm not sure what you're asking; Wikifur is open for anyone to edit, so articles and templates don't belong to anyone. I'll add it to my User page, since I was at one time an active Lion King fan. Offhand it appears that both Tom (Butch) and Ed (Butch) need some grammar and punctuation cleanup. In addition, you could add weblinks, create articles about the game and comic they're in, and wikilink some of the other terms that have articles on Wikifur (and removing some of those that are not likely to, such as "smokes"). There are more suggestions in the Furry Book of Style and other help articles available on the site. Hope this helps! If all else fails, you don't really have to fix them yourself; you could just wait for someone else to come along and improve the articles. --mwalimu 00:44, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

If it's the article about the person, it's okay to add anything about them that is true, is likely to be of public interest, and which you're reasonably certain they wouldn't object to being public about them. If there's anything negative or controversial about them, it should be well sourced and would require stronger justification for the information being public. I'm not sure what the copyright status of someone's fursona is, but anything you could say about a copyrighted character should be okay as far as that goes. Regarding your recent block on User:67.166.88.170, it looks to me as if this user could be Drayk himself wishing for personal exclusion - not a certainty by any means, and we'd need a more verifiable request before treating it as such - but unless you know something I don't or I've overlooked something, it appears to be a definite possibility.

And yes, that article in its present form appears to be rather convoluted and in need of cleanup. If there is any truth in the article, it may be a borderline case of having cause not to allow personal exclusion. Removed "short story" tag

Mwalimu, I removed the tag you put on "Tales from the Reservation" because it's definately NOT a short story - The site does not have the entire story transcribed yet. Shoot, there's 3 parts of the story, and part-I is still being transcribed (got 6 pages left to go).

LUCKILY, part-II is only 5 pages, while part-III is 9 pages - because if each part was 17 pages (like part-I is), by the time I got halfway through part-II I would be in a padded cell with my fingers all bandaged up :))

I see it as open for abuse if an anonymous person can add (directly or indirectly) unreferenced material about someone else that cannot be removed due to it being a Talk page. RAN vs RUN

The phrase is not RAN from.

The correct phrase is RUN from.

As in "this group has run from then to now."

Either of the following would be reasonable: "this group ran from then to now", or "this group has run from then to now". The tag "Ran from/to:" is an abbreviated phrase to begin with so it's lacking sufficient context to say which of these would be more correct. On the assumption that most readers would read it the first way, "Ran" is the convention we've adopted on WikiFur and there are dozens of other articles on the site (for websites, comics, TV series, etc.) that have it phrased that way.
