River Soorjcat (sometimes referred to with the definite article as The Soorjcat, a nickname coined by her mate Quuxum Mephitida) is a furry fan, artist, and writer who lives in W:Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.

Biography[edit]

A military historian by academic training, River is a published author and artist, albeit outside the fandom. She can often be found nursing a cup of coffee and sketching something new. She presented a panel on medieval Japanese anthro art at Anthrocon 2019, and hopes to panel and take part in the art show at Anthrocon 2020.

River is mated to Quuxum Mephitida, who since 2016 has been teaching her how to be a sometimes outdoor cat.

Fandom involvement[edit]

River Soorjcat began her activity in the Pittsburgh furry fandom in 2017, attending both Anthrocon and WPAFW. She has accounts at Twitter, Weasyl, Inkbunny, and FurAffinity, where she sometimes posts art and more often engages in banter with furs in and around Greater Pittsburgh. While her fursona is a Maine coon, she is particularly active among spaces for lynxes in the fandom, such as the Telegram group run by Leonato Lynx.

Fursona[edit]

River Soorjcat's fursona is a bespectacled Maine Coon in brown mackerel tabby colors, sometimes with ear tufts dyed dark blue. She has an unofficial secondary fursona, a brown pine marten with an undercut named Vee.
