WAFF 2019

West Aussie Fur Frenzy (WAFF) is a furry convention held at 100 James St, Perth[1] Perth, Western Australia

West Aussie Fur Frenzy is run by a registered business partnership, owned and operated by Skye Shark, Faolan Aviternal, and Fane Kobalt.[2]

2017[edit]

WAFF was launched in October, 2016,[3] and originally scheduled for March 25-26, 2017.[4] However, in early January it was announced that the convention was rescheduling for September 2-3.[3] The event took place at at the Pagoda Resort and Spa, situated on the shores of Perth’s Swan River.[5]

The guest of honour was rockabilly furry artist and graphic designer Toxi De Vyne.[6]

Planned indoor event spaces included:[7]

  • an Artist Market, where crafters and artists may purchase time at a table to sell their wares.
  • a Show Space that can accommodate scheduled activities, including:
    • a pub quiz with a bar service and complimentary canapes
    • Rebel Empire Workshops (a Perth-based production company)
    • Dance party with bar service
    • Fursuit games
  • A Social Lounge space where attendees may relax, socialise, enjoy some tabletop gaming and meet others.

Scheduled outdoor activities included a fursuit walk.

The second West Aussie Fur Frenzy took place September 7-9, 2018,[8] at the Pagoda Resort and Spa in Perth.[8] The theme was "8-Bit Furs",[8] and the guests of honour were Carnival,[9] Changes the Skunk and Pocari Roo.[10]

2019[edit]

The third West Aussie Fur Frenzy took place in 2019, with Sneaky Lion Arts as a guest of honour.[11]

2020[edit]

The fourth instance of the West Aussie Fur Frenzy, themed "Bunker Down Under", took place on September 26, 2020 to September 27, 2020.[12] There was a limit of 100 tickets.[13]

2021[edit]

The fifth instance of the West Aussie Fur Frenzy, "The Good, The Bad and The Furry",[14] took place September 24-26, 2021 at the Doubletree Perth Northbridge. The charity was Greener Pastures Sanctuary.[15]

2022[edit]

The sixth instance of the West Aussie Fur Frenzy, "Deities of Future Past", is to take place September 16-18, 2022 at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges.[16]
