Étienne Le Chien by Cooner

Introduction[edit]

Étienne Le Chien (aka "Étienne-Arnaud Le Chien" and "Étienne-Arnaud Le Chien des Drapeaux") is a canine fursuiter currently living in Houston, TX. His fursona is a cultured and friendly French-speaking mutt vexillologist, whose mother is French and father is from Québec. His fursona is partly inspired by Lumière from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast", Remy from "Ratatouille", and the mannerisms of Don Karnage from "TaleSpin." Due to his fursona's appearance, his fursona is often mistaken for a wolf.

History[edit]

Étienne has been a furry since he discovered about the fandom on 25 March 2005 whilst looking for some information on a scene from the 1940 film "Pinnochio." However, like many other furries, he developed an interest in anthropomorphic characters since childhood, but could not find a term for it or other people who shared the same interest. His earliest memories of favourite cartoons with anthropomorphic characters include cartoons such as "The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin", "The Get Along Gang", and "Shirt Tales" in 1988. He has enjoyed watching anthropomorphic characters ever since up until this day.

Ever since he found out about the fandom in 2005, he knew he found something to identify with. However, he took a hiatus from the fandom from 2009 to around 2015 after he attended some local fur meets. It has only been since 2018 when he began to be more fully active and involved in the local furry scene and made many friends. His very first furcon was Texas Furry Fiesta in 2019, which left him with a very positive impression on his life.

He is currently enjoying attending local furmeets and even hosting his own furmeets (One Evening at Fuzzy's), where he wants to be as open and welcoming to all attendees.

Convention Attendance[edit]

  • Texas Furry Fiesta: 2019, 2020.
  • Alamo City Furry Invasion: 2019.

Other Interesting Information[edit]

Apart from attending local furmeets and enjoying furry fandom, Étienne also likes learning foreign languages, playing trivia and classic NES games, reading, listening to some Eurodance, 80s, 90s, alternative rock, geography, history, and improving his knowledge of computer hardware. He speaks English (prefers to use UK spelling), Spanish, French, some German and Portuguese, and can understand some Italian, and a bit of Russian. One day he hopes to increase his knowledge in many of these languages to different fluency levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The Chinese language is also on the list of languages he wishes to learn.

He is currently attending school to do a career change in Web Development and IT support with certifications.

His full name literally translates (word per word) as "Steven Arnold the Dog" and it rhymes in the original French language.
