Truesona
Truesona is a furspeech portmanteau derived from the terms "true self" and "persona" that refers to a (normally furry) character, persona, alter ego, avatar, or identity which is designed to closely resemble its creator, usually physically, but may include realistic aspects of its creator's personality as well.

Most often used in the furry fandom, it is also used to refer to any mainstream's persona.

The first confirmed appearance of the term, but not by the current definition, occurred in Fur Affinity on art commissioner KitaraSoftpaw's FA post, "Truesona Clothing Designs ~ XiaoMao Mashe ~ Celyn" posted on April 26, 2012,[1] (the use of the term with its current meaning on the site started to pick up in 2019 onwards).
On DeviantArt, the first appearance of the term, but still not by its current definition, occurred in Sew3r-Gat0r's DA questionnaire meme post, "Another memememememememe (meme)", posted on March 15, 2016.[2]
Social media[edit]
The first use of the term on social media and probably the first time where the character reference resembled its creator may have occurred on SeasideDoe's X (while still known as Twitter) post, "Absolutely! Heck, my truesona could pull off a clown outfit easily!, posted on March 26, 2017.[3]
The use of the term would continue to accelerate on social media afterward.[4][5][6][7][8]
