The Tennessean is a newspaper which in early March 2004 published "Fur Factor", an article about furries.

In April 2005, The Tennessean published "Anime fans flock to Midstate convention", an article by Sharon L. Narcisse about the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention; this article states that "The characters, called anthropomorphics and known as the furries, dominated the convention, although there were plenty of people dressed in vibrant kimonos or as samurai warriors."[1]
