Nationalist_fur[edit]

I'm not completely confident of my change re: Nationalist Furries. To me "nationalism" is specific to a political organism -- i.e., a nation. Their goals seem to be the unification of furries in philosophy and aims, but not (in my mind) in a "nation". Wikipedia's entries on Nation and Nationalism don't seem to address the issue -- or did they? They were tl;dr. ;) --Tom Howling 16:32, 25 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Removed emphasis in names[edit]

When I was an editor at MacWEEK magazine, we had a rule: If a company or product name was spelled with exclamation points, all-caps, or other attention-grabbers, we removed them. I think it's a good idea. Without it, you get the equivalent of people Increasing their VOICES until EVERYONE! IS SHOUTING!!!!!! :) So I made that change to this article. --Tom Howling 16:32, 25 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Related search terms for LJ Interests[edit]

I checked, and LJ returned the same number of hits for "furries" as "furry", so I guess it has a plural-checking gewgaw installed. (I didn't compare the two lists, though.) Text changed to give better-working examples, although I had a hard time elegantly saying, "These other search terms likely contain both new hits and redundant hits." I think it's fine, but change it if you feel poetic (and concise!) --Tom Howling 03:14, 29 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Splitting?[edit]

To my eyes this article is getting to be unwieldy. I would suggest splitting out Location-specific communities to another article, at least, if not some of the other sections (Art comes to mind). -- Sine 21:54, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

If the location section was moved, what do others think of moving them to subcategories of Category:Groups by country ? A WikiFur category for continents might have to be created. (BTW, South African Furs "Journal has been deleted." and they have 30 days to undelete.) --EarthFurst 12:36, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan to me, and I'm all for continents. I wish we had a more generic name for Groups by country, as the country categories are used for more than groups, but it'd be a pain to rename at this point. Although not such a pain if we were fitting countries into continent categories... hmm. -- Sine 03:52, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering if the list of anti-furry LJs should be moved to a seperate page. --EarthFurst 12:36, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Topic and Wikifur links[edit]

I don't think the topics should be Wikifur links to a particular community, as in the recent edit which links Victims of abuse to Wounded Paws.

I actually think it's about time to include Wikifur links to individual communities, as well as the external links. I'm not sure what the best format for that would be. Thoughts? -- Sine 04:21, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

I'd also prefer that topic headers not be a wiki-link to a wiki-article about a specific livejournal. How about formating that line into *Victims of abuse: Wounded Paws: Wounded Paws . Another possibility is changing it to the double-asterisk format used in the Art projects section (although that could wait until there's a second victims-of-abuse livejournal). --EarthFurst 01:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Art projects section[edit]

I don't think we need the Art projects section, as these are such specific communities and generally intended only for participants in the projects. Thoughts? -- Sine 05:42, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Horrors Community Updates[edit]

VCL Horrors, FA Horrors, SheezyArt Horrors, Elfwood Horrors, and DeviantArt Horrors (in conjunction with the "Big Bad Mod" account) have been deleted, permanently. The following communities were made to replace some of them: wtf_vcl, vclhorrors, wtf_fa, deviantartsnark, vcl_snark —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Surgat (talkcontribs) .

subcategories of Gaming?[edit]

I was going to be bold, but decided to ask here first. List of furry LiveJournal communities#Interests category includes Gaming subcategory, lines for Second Life and Tapestries. What do people think of the Second Life line and the Tapestries lines being moved into Gaming subcategory? --EarthFurst 08:01, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Furarthorrors and Artists_beware[edit]

Two information LJ communities to warm artists and commissioners about problematic artists and commissioners:

Any suggestions about what heading and/or section they should be listed under? Danke Spirou 07:47, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Hmm. Since it's two entries, I should think that would be enough to merit its own subsection. Perhaps "Artist/Commissioner Discussion" under "Furry Art"? Oh, and you may want to make note of the fact that furarthorrors has membership by invitation only. ----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 12:20, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Ah, will do so =) Thanks for the help Spirou 02:39, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

and relationships (parents and childfree)[edit]

I was going to add the furry_childfree LJ to the list, but noticed "Married Furs' Journal" was in "Sexuality and relationships" section while "Furry Parents" are in "Traits" section. Should "Furry Parents" be moved to "relationships" section? Should furry_childfree go in "relationships" section? (some childfree are single while others are in a relationship) --EarthFurst 03:09, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

furry-inclusive?[edit]

List includes "100x100 Icon Exchange *" and "Conbadge Exchange *" with explanation that the the asterisks "* Note: These communities are not exclusively furry, but a majority of the participants are or have animalistic avatars." I think the explanation is fine for those two exchanges (since the explanation is right after) .. but what about other LJs that are not near the explanation? (example Artists beware) Should add something like "furry-inclusive" ? --EarthFurst 08:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps the description should be something like "appear to have a significant proportion of members from the furry fandom"? --GreenReaper(talk) 20:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I have no strong opinion on which explanation wording is better, mainly I was wondering if format should switch FROM "name-of-LJ *" TO "name-of-LJ (furry-inclusive)" --EarthFurst 20:38, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Given that it's on a list of furry LiveJournal communities, I think that's implied, to be honest. *grin* --GreenReaper(talk) 15:56, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Furry Rants LJ Community[edit]

It amuses me to no end that the community created BY furs (I should know, I made the community) to vent about things that upset them in the fandom is listed as 'anti-furry'. I just find it humorous, that's all. Ruhemaus

I went ahead and moved the link out of the "anti-furry" listing; it's with the other communities just above the anti-furry list now. Feel free to edit that little description I gave it, if needed (remember, if you see something on the wiki that needs changing, edit mercilessly!  :) Carl Fox 22:43, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

LJ internal and external style?[edit]

Some lines are external-link and then internal-link such as:

And other lines are internal-link and then external-link such as:

Due to the introduction of the {{lj-comm|example}} code to this list, what should the line-style in the list be? (subject): internal-link-to-LJ-article : external-link - name ? --EarthFurst 06:48, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

move list of anti-furry LJs to own page ?[edit]

Editing List of furry LiveJournal communities includes wikia message of "WARNING: This page is 30 kilobytes long; some browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please consider breaking the page into smaller sections." What do others think of creating List of anti-furry LiveJournal communities ? --EarthFurst 18:46, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea; in the longer run I believe the list-by-region would be the next candidate to be broken out into its own section, as it's very long and easily defined. --quoting_mungo 20:17, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
It would be a lot smaller if we just removed all the deleted or suspended ones. :-)
Oh, and don't take that message too seriously - it used to be true, but is no longer accurate. --GreenReaper(talk) 21:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps we could move all deleted or suspended communities to a subpage such as List of furry LiveJournal communities/Deleted or suspended communities. -- JaeSharp 21:47, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
I think splitting off the location communities is the way to go, although I'm not sure how best to title such a list. I think having the deleted communities in with the main list is better than having them separated out, unless the number of them gets to be unwieldy. -- Sine 23:35, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

furry STD community[edit]

Don't know if this is appropriate for inclusion or not. This group was announced on the furrtive LJ a few weeks ago and looks like noone's added it to this list. Doesn't look too active, actually. Thoughts? Simba B 20:01, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm inclined to leave it out for now. Sergei_tain the Maintainer/mod of furry_stds might be a pseudonym for a goon. I'm kinda suspicious for various reasons including (A) sergei_tain account was started 3 weeks ago (same day as furry_stds group was started). and (B) no one has friended sergei_tain. If the group is legit, I would have thought a better LJ name would have been furry_safer_sex or something. --EarthFurst 06:50, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Soviets, Nazis, racists and skinheads[edit]

Oh my. Most recent edit to the list included the addition of racist_furs LJ and skinhead_furs LJs.

  • (A) Should the list be changed so Nazi Furs and Soviet Furs are together under subject heading such as history?
  • (B) Since
  • b1 wikipedia:skinhead says skinheads are "a working class subculture" of people ranging from "racist to far-left anti-fascist" and
  • b2 the skinhead_furs LJ says "SKINHEAD IS NOT, .. A RACIST THING AT ALL. It's a division of punk focusing on the working class".
  • I'm going to move the skinhead entry FROM "*Nazi Furs" down TO "*skinheads"
  • (C) The racist_furs LJ claims "Racist, by definition, does not mean "hate". [..]", but the community's interest list seems pretty hateful (includes "88, adolf hitler, .., baseballbats, .. hate crimes, ..) I'll move the racist_furs LJ FROM "Nazi Furs" to "*racist:" for the time being (The mod of racist_furs says the group is racist (in a racial-pride way) and I think the group is racist in a hate-way). --EarthFurst 05:49, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Gaming re-organization?[edit]

Have a few thoughts I'd like to float to you all. I was going to move ddr_furs into Gaming, but DDR involves exercise. Should DDR be moved to Gaming? Should "See also DDR above" be added to Exercise and/or Gaming sections? --EarthFurst 02:19, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Similarly wikipedia:Geocaching says "Geocaching is an .. game", but exercise is involved. Should Geocaching be moved to Gaming? Should "See also Geocaching below" be added to Exercise and/or Gaming sections? --EarthFurst 02:19, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Wondering if Gaming should be sorted a bit like wikipedia:Category:Games. Example: should xboxlive_furs, fursofwow, secondlife_furs and/or the Tapestries LJs go into Gaming:videogames:online games ? --EarthFurst 02:19, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Art exchanges: General or Various ?[edit]

Currently Art Exchanges section is split into 3 subcategories: General, Species and Various. What was/is the intended difference between General and Various? --EarthFurst 00:20, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Change[edit]

I changed the category Pagan to Non-Christian, since I believe Non-Christian is less biased than Pagan. I say less biased because Non-Christian still has a biased tone to it, as if other religions are judged by how they match up with Christianity (okay, not trying to get into a religious argument here).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sirtim (talkcontribs) .

I would disagree with this change. Non-Christian could also connote Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, et al. That section is specifically pagan, which is defined as "Relating to a broad spectrum of religious practices, generally lacking a strong hierarchical structure and emphasizing a personal relationship with natural forces and cycles." There is no bias inherent in the term "Pagan".----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 23:08, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Italian Furs ?[edit]

Where should italianfurs LJ go? It seems to be primarily English-language, so probably doesn't fit in “Languages other than English”. I was thinking of placing it in Location > Europe > Countries > Italy BUT its focus is “Furries of an Italian descent” (so apparently not limited to Italy). --EarthFurst 21:55, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

The Angry Beavers?[edit]

Hmm, just came across The Angry Beavers Community. The characters in the show were apparently anthropomorphic, that enough to be added to the list? --EarthFurst 04:11, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate entry[edit]

wtf_fa is listed twice. One should probably be removed but I'm not sure which is the better category to leave it in. --mwalimu 17:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I'd keep it in the FA section. It's my opinion that wtf_fa is not an anti-furry community because most if not all of the members are furries and FA members. It's just a place to post some of the wierder submissions and fetishes in the fandom. --63.22.141.5 19:20, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Done. I see there is also a wtf_vcl in the anti-furries section - if it's similar in nature to wtf_fa then it should probably be moved to the VCL section. --mwalimu 13:29, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
furbid_horrors was listed twice, it also seems to be a community of furries and non-furries, so I've removed it from the Anti-Furries subsection of the list. --EarthFurst 10:53, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

WTF communities[edit]

So, uh, VCL_Snark and wtf VCL are both listed with the anti-furries sites. Neither are anti-furries, just pro-making-fun-of-stupid-things. And they're both founded by furries, and the members are like, 90% furries. Suggesting moving them into other listings. --IanKeith 20:56, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Maybe the anti-furry list in this article could be renamed to "critics" or something, similar to what was done with the "Anti-Furry" article category? --Natasha Softpaw 21:26, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good. Everyone's a critic. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 05:50, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Dracophiliac[edit]

Removed. It's been deleted and purged. --Silurian King 23:12, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Anthros about Art[edit]

Gone as well. Can we do a once over to see which journals are gone?--108.7.77.32 02:16, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
