Silly edit[edit]

This is reproduced here for your amusement, it doesn't belong in the actual article but I found it funny Simba B 01:06, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Career Change[edit]

In December 2006 Doug Winger stepped down as the United States' ambassador to the United Nations. President George W. Bush accepted his resignation which was likely submitted due to the unlikelyness that Doug would be confirmed by the Democratic Senate when his recess term was to end in 2007.

Full name[edit]

complete name Dougals D. Winger

Is his full name really "Dougals", or is that a typo for "Douglas"? Or just "Dougal"?--[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 00:40, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Where Is Doug?[edit]

Its been a long time since anything new has been posted on Doug's Sekrit Site(August 2010). Did he get sick or leave the fandom Sniffindahouse

It's now March 2011 - over nine months. I hope he's okay. 76.95.15.69 01:44, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

It's now November 2011. Over a year. He never even put up a 2011 directory yet T_T 71.87.116.224 03:43, 15 November 2011 (EST)
He's done some stuff this year, but hasn't uploaded it to his Sekrit Site, probably commissions or gifts. You can find some of them on FA, so I'm betting on more an extended slump than anything. 72.186.74.144 20:02, 16 April 2012 (EDT)
It's almost 2013 and his site is dead. I think he's gone for good. And I haven't seen anything of his on FA that was drawn after 2010 71.87.116.224 18:21, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

A Moment of Pedantry[edit]

Just a somewhat tongue-in-cheek observation... the unit of squickage ought properly to be the Winger, to conform to the proper usage of the metric system. The prefixes 'milli', 'centi', 'kilo', 'mega', etc. are modifiers that indicate the scaling of the unit in question. That said, I can see why some might feel apprehensive about trying to define 1 Winger's worth of squickage; the milliWinger seems a much more reasonable portion for everyday use, rather like capacitance in electronics. --GingerM (Leave me a message) 02:34, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Doug's Secret Site down[edit]

So I tried to go to Doug's Sekrit Site today and the page is dead. All I get is a blank page with the words "There is no website configured at this address." on the top. Sniffindahouse

It came back up the next day. Enjoy! 76.95.15.69 20:13, 31 March 2011 (CEST)
Douglas D. Winger is alive and well, busy with RL matters. And his "secret" site is up and running (only been down from time to time for quick maintenance). Just FYI - Spirou 13:14, 7 October 2012 (EDT)
Still hasn't been updated since 2010 :((( - 71.90.44.109 00:32, 7 November 2013 (EST)

Needed editor changes to article (Douglas Winger)[edit]

  • With the addition of the infobox, birth/death dates and locations of both need to be edited out from the main body (duplicate data).
  • There is no need for a caption for the photo (only for standalone images/photos), but if insisting on keeping it, it should read "Doug Winger at Confurence 8, California, USA".
  • ", USA" needs to be added to the first (or both) locations on the infobox.
  • Doug's last official website was http://furnication.bloobunni.com, should replace macrophile on the infobox.
  • Since this site will be on the infobox, it needs to be removed from the External Links section (duplicate data). - Spirou (talk) 05:40, 4 August 2015 (EDT)

The Doug Winger Archives[edit]

I have been working on backing up Doug's work across multiple sites. Mainly this has used HTT to scrape his sites and back them up.

I have been in contact with old furnet administrators to attempt to scrape the NNTP servers Doug used to use for some of his earliest artwork, sadly they appear to be down at the moment.

Any and all help in scraping and preserving his legacy would be appreciated.

Please contact me on my talk page if you have any input.
