Shetani is a fursuiter living in the United States. Her fursona is a king cheetah. She first discovered the furry community via Lion King fanart pages and DeviantArt. Despite her immediate interest, she did not officially join until 2012 due to concerns about public perception of furries.[1]

Her other interests include animals (especially cats), video- and browser-based games, cosplaying, baking, activism, and video editing. She is an avid collector of The Lion King merchandise and stuffed cheetahs.[2]

Furry involvement[edit]

Fursona[edit]

Shetani's fursona was created in 2012 after she was urged by friends to make one. The character is a naturally-colored female king cheetah who ages with her creator. Her distinctive markings include three black back stripes (the middle of which extends halfway down her tail), a black tailtip with two black rings, and black ear rims. She can be easily identified by her long hair - naturally dark brown, though often dyed various colors - and glasses, and always wears a silver omega pendant necklace. She is frequently depicted wearing t-shirts with the logo of My Chemical Romance, her favorite band.[3]

Fursuit[edit]

Shetani's fursuit was made in 2014 by MagpieBones[4] and debuted at Anthrocon that year. It is a use-your-own-eyes style fursuit that incorporates both the wearer's actual eyes and hair. Shetani chose MagpieBones as her fursuit maker due to a preference for realistic fursuits, as well as the maker's unique ability to accommodate her real hair and vision aids, a necessity for Shetani to be able to fursuit safely and comfortably.[5] Auxiliary parts by The Forgotten Imp and Gnoll Patrol are employed to accentuate her costuming.

Photos of Shetani's fursuit are shared weekly on her Twitter, Mastodon, and Instagram accounts with the #FursuitFriday hashtag. The fursuit features heavily in gaming livestreams, convention panels, and other videos on Shetani's YouTube channel.

Community involvement[edit]

Shetani is a self-proclaimed unskilled artist, preferring to support her fellow furries by commissioning art of her fursona from artists within the community. She has accumulated over 100 works of art over the years, most of which can be viewed on her Weasyl and Toyhouse galleries.

On YouTube, Shetani is known for her Cheetah Chat educational series and Shetani Plays livestreams.[6]

She fundraises for the Cheetah Conservation Fund as part of the annual International Cheetah Day,[7] and has participated in donation drives for charities such as The 519, The C.A.R.E. Foundation, and Lambda Legal[8] organized within the furry community.

Since August of 2022, Shetani writes the Convention Calendar segment of the online magazine Furry Weekly.[9]

She contributes to multiple databases of furry history, conventions, and furmeets.

Convention attendance[edit]

Shetani is an avid convention-goer, having been a long-time patron of comic, anime, and general fan conventions before taking an active role in the furry community. Since then, she has attended the following furry cons:

After the cancellation of in-person furry conventions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shetani began hosting panels at online conventions. She has presented at the virtual iterations of Megaplex, Furpocalypse, Fur-Eh, Midwest Furfest, New Year's Furry Ball, Blue Ridge Furfare, Furnal Equinox, Texas Furry Fiesta, CozyCon, Anthrocon, Weekend Furry Retreat, and Digital Villainy Summit.[10]
