Scotiacon 2024
Scotiacon 2024 was the twelfth instance of the Scotiacon convention, held 2-5 February 2024 at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow in Glasgow[1]
The convention's theme was "Prehistoric Panic", a celebration of all things dinosaur-related.
Registration[edit]
Pricing details[2] were announced on 4 August 2023 and the opening date of registration was announced on 20 August 2023.[3] Registration options for 2024 were the same as in previous years, with attending only and residential options, both of which could be upgraded to "Sponsor" (which includes a Sponsor Lunch) for an additional £80.
Some prices increased slightly from those in 2023, with a basic "attending only" ticket costing £100, and residential tickets priced at £330, £400, or £480 per person,[4] depending on the room type chosen. Residential tickets included three nights' accommodation, a buffet breakfast each morning, and access to the hotel's "Club Moativation" fitness centre and swimming pool.
Registration opened at 20:00 British Summer Time (UTC+1) on 25 August 2023,[5]
On 22 February 2024, it was announced that 1170 people attended the convention.[6] This was an increase of 22½% compared to 2023.
Guest of Honour[edit]
On 13 October 2023, it was announced that the Guest of Honour for the convention would be UK-based creature creator Kloof.[7]
Charity[edit]
On 5 December 2023, it was announced that the convention had chosen to support The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust[8] as their charity for 2024.[9]
