Rhona Whitefeather
Rhona Whitefeather is a furry writer, furry artist, Roleplayer and a long-term member of the UK Furry Fandom. They have a fursona that is an avian-dragon hybrid of a self-created species they call the 'Estrati'.
Rhona currently lives in Portsmouth, moving there after attending university in the city and finding it to be far more a vibrant and welcoming place than their place of birth, Reading, Berkshire.
Rhona's original Fursona and Fandom 'name' was Silverwind Blade, a character they had created in 1998 and went through several variations and changes over the years. They are still mostly known by this name to the majority of their friends who are still adjusting to the new name. However, they changed character in 2023, finding the new character they had created a refreshing change and a surge of creativity coming along with changing the name, character, and new creation.
They have been a member of the fandom actively since 1999, discovering it existed via a Loaded Magazine article and a small sidebar mention of United Publications in the UK Manga Mania magazine. However, they had always drawn and created Anthropomorphic characters and created stories and the like around them.
While Rhona's character is a female-identifying and presenting gynomorphic hermaphrodite, the person behind them is male, and primarily identifies as such. 'They' is used for the sake of simplicity to refer to the character and their owner/player alike on this article.
Fursona origins[edit]
Rhona was originally created as a purely roleplaying character, inspired by an unrelated piece of artwork. Rhona's player had always loved avians, especially birds of prey. Creating an avian character was a natural fit, and after their appearance, and background naturally followed. They were given a few different faltering origin stories and backgrounds to begin with, before finally settling on a repurposed version of an older story Rhona's player had written over ten years prior, and had never fully published for 'public' release, but had always returned to the concept of. Rhona's background is thus that she is an enhanced being, a (although both player and character find the term trite and cliche) 'super-soldier' in the mold of Captain America or the Master Chief of Halo. Enhanced with cybernetics, genetic engineering and the like. However, she is of mature age, and her career mostly past, with her trying to live a peaceful life, but duty and events frequently calling her back to her arms and responsibilities, despite her reluctance.
Defining characteristics[edit]
Rhona is exceptionally tall among the people of her world, standing at eight foot six inches. She is very busty and curvaceous, with a plump and chubby build. However, this does not inhibit her strength and fitness, thanks to her alterations. Her melding of dragon and bird-like characteristics show in the short horns on her head, her beak, feathered wings on her back, and bird-like talons for hands and feet. She also has deer-like ears, and a long, flexible tail that is prehensile. She has a mixture of fur and feathers across her body.
As befitting her origins, Rhona is an accomplished soldier and fighter, with considerable history and prowess in battle, and experience with a wide variety of vehicles, weaponry and the like.

Rhona has been active in the fandom for over two decades. During this time, as Silverwind, they attended LondonFurs meets, and made friends with a large number of people at those meets, some of whom have remained friends to this day, and were even guests at their IRL wedding.
Rhona, still going by Silverwind at the time, also took over running of the HantsFurs meets in 2015, after they ceased due to lack of staffing and organization. This was at first through the UKFur forums. The first meet was in August 2015, and they commenced monthly after this. However, due to some disagreement over the use of the name, Rhona and the rest of the meet committee retitled the meets to SotonFurs, due to their primarily being held in Southampton, a name they have gone by since and have become highly successful, becoming the largest meet in the central south-coast area, something Rhona still cannot quite fathom. As well as being the chairman of SotonFurs, Rhona also is the vice chairman for the My Little Pony convention, the Festival of Friendship, reflecting their interest in that fandom as well.
Rhona's primary interests and activities in the fandom are as a writer, artist, and a long-time roleplayer, both on and off-line in more formal and free-form role-playing games. They have played and DM-ed many different games over the years, in a variety of game systems. Rhona is also an avid model-maker of modern military aircraft and vehicles and gundam models ('gunpla') and enjoys kit-bashing or customising models. They also have a huge interest in modern military aircraft and vehicles, mecha anime (such as Gundam and Macross), science fiction, and a host of other things.
