Rainshadow (furry fan)
Rainshadow (born August 1973), is a therian-leaning furry fan and fursuiter who lives in California, USA, who trained as a molecular biologist and works in the medical diagnostics field.
Fandom involvemnent[edit]
Rainshadow's involvement in furry fandom began in the early 1990s when he discovered the furry fanzine YARF! for sale at a comic book shop in Cupertino, California called A Wrinkle In Time.
In college, he began perusing and later posting to alt.fan.furry and alt.lifestyle.furry, where he was active until about 2002. From 1999 until the early 2000's he was also active on LiveJournal and was the first founder of FurSETI.
His first furry convention was ConFurence 5, and he subsequently attended ConFurences 8, 9, and 10, Albany AnthroCon '97, and Further Confusion 2006, mostly while in graduate school. He hosted the Coyote SIG at AAC '97 and worked as staff at CF 10's Art Show.
He dropped out of active participation in the fandom for about 13 years while he focused on his academic training and career. On a whim, he popped in for the last day of Further Confusion 2019, whereas by chance he ran into an old friend and was generally struck by the positivity and wonderful energy of the event.
He subsequently became active on furry social media and attended FWA, EF, PAWCon, MFF, and FC 2020. He worked at staff in Con Ops at FC 2020 and FC 2021 (virtual).
