No North is a webcomic created and authored by Raquel Simoso (Skailla), consulted and 3D painted by Gabriel Simoso and illustrated by Tatiana Lange and Jennifer Beam. Inspired by classic animal fables, traditionally animated movies and old west adventures.
History[edit]
The pilot began its production in 2013 as a short comic called Up and Ahead, which featured the early adventures of the unlikely duo, Steban and Martin. In 2018 it was successfully funded and printed, and the eBook can still be found in their store. The concept has now been fully remodeled and the world and characters expanded from there.
In 2020, the prequel to No North was released. Known as Shut Eye, it was based on the viral animatic created in 2017, by the song Shut Eye by the group Stealing Sheep. It tells one of Steban’s strangest misadventures, and is the official prequel to No North’s storyline.
Premise[edit]
Ending up in Oddwind, a town plagued by constant disappearances, the unlikely duo takes it upon themselves to solve the mystery and break its curse. But little do they know of the dangers that hide in the lands of the unknown…
Book 0 - Shut Eye[edit]
Shut Eye is the first book of the No North webcomic, first released on March 28, 2020 and ended on October 3, 2020.
Book premise: After getting himself lost in the Lonesome Deserts, Steban comes across a mysterious town. In a twist of fate, he finds out that the place is terribly cursed and his soul could get trapped forever, unless he’s quick enough to catch a train that doesn’t stop.
Book 1 - The Northless Compass[edit]
The Northless Compass is the second book of the No North webcomic, first released on May 26, 2021.
Book premise: It's a dog world: uninspired and failing at becoming the writer he always wanted to be, Martin roams the streets without perspective. That’s when he stumbles across Steban, a wanderer with no sense of danger, and his life takes a drastic turn. Ending up in Oddwind, a town plagued by strange disappearances, the unlikely duo takes it upon themselves to solve the mystery and break its curse. Could this be the story Martin has been searching for? Or just a way to lead them deeper into the unknown...
