Maurice
Maurice is a fictional character first introduced in the 2005 animated comedy film Madagascar. He is voiced by comedian Cedric the Entertainer in his film appearances and by actor Kevin Michael Richardson in the TV series.

Overview[edit]
Maurice is an Aye-aye - a primate native to Madagascar. He appears as the advisor to King Julien in all mediums, and - to a certain extent - the closest thing Julien has to a friend. Despite his irritation at Julien's constant demands, he remains loyal to his king to the point to refusing to replace him when the chance arises.

Maurice debuted in the film Madagascar, in which he was second-in-command of the Madagascan lemurs and advisor to King Julien. Maurice was shown to be less impressed of Julien than the other lemurs, and was the only character to identify Alex the Lion as a greater threat than the Foosa.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa[edit]

In the 2008 sequel, Maurice accompanied King Julien on his flight with the main characters back to New York City, but in a crash-landing, he and Julien are accidentally sucked out of an opening in the plane, but land safely. Maurice has since warmed to Julien, and does not question him as much as he had done in Madagascar.
The Penguins of Madagascar[edit]

In the TV series The Penguins of Madagascar, Maurice is one of three lemurs at Central Park Zoo, alongside King Julien and Mort. The series did much to flesh out Maurice's character, showing his frustration at Julien's demands reach new heights (in episodes such as Gone in a Flash and Operation: Plush and Cover), to his close friendship with Julien affecting his judgement (in episodes such as Kingdom Come).
Merry Madagascar[edit]

Maurice returns in the 2009 midquel Merry Madagascar, again as an advisor to King Julien, although his role is not fleshed out to any great extent.
Madagascar 3[edit]

Maurice will return for the 2012 film Madagascar 3, which will see the characters finally return to Central Park Zoo.
