MOO

MOO is the acronym for MultiUser Dimension Object-Oriented Technology. These are text-based adventures similar to MUDs and MUCKs, however, the objects within a MOO are based on a hierarchical inheritance parent-child pattern, which mimics the concepts of modern object-oriented programming. Like MUDs and MUCKs, MOOs have objects which can have actions attached. However, MOOs can inherit their properties and actions from superclass objects, which allows MOO world builders to quickly extend and enhance the environment in quick and powerful ways.

For instance, a builder may create a "master radio" object. Many other players could create their own radio objects that inherit from the "master radio" parent object. The parent object defines properties and actions that propagate down to all inheritors. After some time, the builder could use an "emergency broadcast" action on his master radio object, which could make all other radios in the environment broadcast his message. This is not typically possible in MUDs and MUCKs.
