Furlaxation 2012 was the first instance of the Furlaxation convention. It held over September 28-30, 2012, at the Ramada Plaza Inn and Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio, USA.[1]
History[edit]
In February 2011, the convention's theme was announced: "Furmaggedon".[2]
In August 2011 it was announced on the Furlaxation website:
| Furlaxation 2012 –Our inaugural convention now has a confirmed location and date. The convention will be held on Sept 28-30,2012. For our first year we will be in the last weekend of September,but expect to move to the third weekend for following years.
We will be hosted by the Columbus Ramada Plaza &Conference Center [1] [3] |
Furlaxation announced their Guest of Honor, Yappy Fox, on December 11, 2011.[4] On October 20, 2011, Furlaxation announced their special guest for 2012 was Uncle Kage.[5]
On August 31, 2011, the opening of pre-registration was announced,[6] and on October 30, 2011, the organisers announced the opening for applications for dealer and artist tables.[7]
In early October 2012 Bauer posted to the Furlaxation website:
| A short 22 months ago we began assembling a convention called “Furlaxation”. It’s been quite a struggle and a challenge as a first year convention, but we are happy to say that Furlaxation was a success! All of you who attended deserve our everlasting thanks, because it was you that really made the convention as successful as it was.
We’d like to share some convention statistics with everyone: Total Attendees: 241 Charity Money Raised: $590.70 Fursuiters in Parade: 43 Bottles of wine Kage consumed: 4 Amount of fun we had: Immeasurable! Currently we are working on getting our dates for next year and we will let you all know as soon as we do! Stay tuned to our site for updates on our convention dates.[8] |
