Fantastic Mr. Fox is a children's novel by Norwegian-British author Roald Dahl (creator of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), which features anthropomorphic characters.

Premise[edit]

Fantastic Mr. Fox tells the story of a father fox who outwits three human farmers and their guns to steal and provide food for his family and other woodland burrowers.

Animated feature[edit]

Fantastic Mr. Fox is a 2009 stop-motion animated film based, again, on the Roald Dahl children's novel. Released in the autumn of 2009, it was produced by Regency Enterprises and Indian Paintbrush and features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, and Bill Murray. It was the first animated film directed by Wes Anderson, and the first stop-motion animated film to be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Development on the project began in 2004 as a collaboration between Anderson and Henry Selick under Revolution Studios. In 2006, after Selick left to direct Coraline, the film was moved to 20th Century Fox. Production began in London in 2007.
