Doot is a greeting that can take either a physical or vocal form.
Sound[edit]
The verbal form is used by players on MUCKs, particularly FurryMUCK. It is considered to be coined by Wingshine to be used as her "magpie response" to any greeting.[citation needed] Its secondary meaning seems to be either as a replacement to often used single questions words used by furs to request the delivery of information (i.e."Why?," "Who?," "When?," etc, ) or as single word responses to a query (i.e. "Yes," "No," "Maybe," etc.). It is also prevalent among dragons.

The physical form is similar to a hug, used by players on other MUCKs such as Alfandria.[citation needed]
