Donkey Kong is a fictional ape created by Shigeru Miyamoto in 1981.
Name[edit]
The surname "Kong" is from the movie "King Kong". Miyamoto believed "donkey" meant "stupid" in English, and assumed the name Donkey Kong would convey the sense "stupid ape" to an American audience.
