Don Bluth, full Donald Virgil Bluth (born September 13, 1937), is an American animator and owner of the studio of the same name.
Biography[edit]
While having his start at Disney and being involved with such projects as Winnie the Pooh, Robin Hood, The Rescuers and The Fox and the Hound, he is most well known for his independent projects such as The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time and All Dogs Go to Heaven, as well as other box office hit films, such as Titan A.E. and Anastasia.
Bluth's film and animation style tends toward rougher and more energetic portrayals than that of Disney films and tend to have a mystical element to them. This style led to a rift between him and Disney, which would lead him to open his own studio. His subsequent film The Secret of NIMH, as well as the groundbreaking arcade game Dragon's Lair, launched Bluth into prominence.
Don is the older brother of animator Toby Bluth.
