Deathless

Deathless is a supernatural horror thriller story series written by Graveyard Greg which began in October 2009 and ended on March 5, 2010. It derives from Russian mythology, particularly the legends of Koschei and Baba Yaga.

Synopsis

Ivan, a Russian snow leopard expatriate student who is studying at University of Nevada, Reno, roomed with Hopper (a rabbit), Darryl (a hyena) and Hopper's pet iguana Iggy. However, after having found out about his father's murder in his homeland, he becomes a target of a malevolent spirit, known in the old country as Koschei the Deathless, who is hunting Ivan and an egg which was sent by his father to Ivan's address not long before his murder. Ivan flees his apartment building and joins with Tank, the owner of a nearby gym, and Tank's friends in a fight against both the malevolent spirit, which has taken possession of Hopper's body, and an accompanying infection which turns its victims into monstrous, zombified versions of themselves.

• Ivan Andreev - a Russian snow leopard expatriate student who is studying at a university outside of Reno

• Angus "Tank" - well-built bodybuilding owner of the local gym who helps Ivan escape from the monster which possessed Iggy

• Iggy - Hopper's pet iguana who died and whose body was taken over by a monster spirit pet of Koschei. Eventually wakes up without memory of the possession, but later gets a second iguana and names him Koschei

• Hopper - a rabbit student at UNR who is bitten by his dead iguana and possessed by Koschei the Deathless as an avatar

• Darryl - hunky hyena and student at UNR; presumably dead.

• Scowl - weapons expert, former lover of Tank.

• Jolly - panda.

• Dr. Andreev - professor at St. Petersburg University who found an egg in Buyan; was killed after having sent it to Ivan

• Baba Yaga - old crone from Russian legend, advises Ivan in how to defeat Koschei, destroy the egg and extract his family from danger in the process.

• Koschei the Deathless - sorcerer who continuously sought to obtain the egg from Baba Yaga; killed Dr. Andreev, possessed Hopper and controls monster spirits which possess Iggy and other living beings in order to target Ivan

The story series was published in print as a 116-page one-off novella by Argyll Productions and distributed through FurPlanet. It debuted at RainFurrest 2010.
