Dan Haskett (born August 20, 1952 in New York City, New York, USA),[1] is a renown professional traditional animator and character designer who lives in Southern California, USA.

Biography[edit]

Haskett started his career in art in 1969, outside of his high school at the time, High School of Art and Design, with his first project being a commercial for Brim coffee, which was, according to him, "very psychedelic".[2]

He was one of a group of young animators trained by Disney’s Nine Old Men that were confined to one small room in the Disney Feature Animation building in the 1970s.[3][4]

Haskett is credited on dozens of feature and tv animation, documentary, and commercial projects, and has won an Emmy Award for his artistic works.[5]

Character designer[edit]

Hasket has designed and developed several animation franchise characters, such as Belle for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Ariel for The Little Mermaid,[6] Tod (adult) for The Fox and the Hound, Minerva Mink for Steven Spielberg's Animaniacs, Radio AAHS' mascot disc jockeys Ozzie and Kazoo, and Edna Krabappel, Moe Szyslak, and Barney Gumble for The Simpsons.
