Cats Don't Dance is an animated feature film from the Turner Entertainment division of Time Warner, directed by Mark Dindal and released in 1997. A traditional musical in the style of "Singin' In The Rain" with both funny animal and human characters, it tells the story of Danny, a cat who travels to 1930's Hollywood to make his fortune in the movies, but finds that, as an animal, the range of parts available to him is very limited - a thinly-veiled reference to the racism of Hollywood at the time. He meets and falls in love with the beautiful female cat Sawyer, but his efforts to succeed are thwarted by the evil human child star Darla Dimple. The style is 2-D cel animation, with CGI effects used for certain elements, mostly vehicles.
The movie stars the voice of Scott Bakula as Danny, and features choreography by Gene Kelly.
