Moving

Should Category:People and Category:Characters be moved to Root? I think so, but I wanted to get some input before I re-categorized such large categories.

Why would you want to move them in the first place? People, certainly, I see as being part of the commmunity. Characters, maybe not, but I'm not sure they warrant being put under Root. --GreenReaper^(talk) 07:24, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Category order

I feel categories should have at least a loosely defined order. What I've seen used, and do myself, is: categories generated by templates; general categories through to more specific; location; and dates.

For example: Person stubs | People | Artists | Cat characters | Ohio | 1973 births | 2005 deaths.

Most templates are placed before the categories, and thus automatically any categories they generate (such as Wikifurries or Stubs) show first in the list of categories; I don't see the trouble of manually putting such categories in elsewhere in the list would be worth the trouble.

General to more specific categories would be, for example: People, Artists, Comic artists. I've been putting Wolf characters and the like after the about the person categories, for consistency. Location is a category such as California; usually an article is only given one location category, if any.

Dates as the last category in the list seems logical to me, with, say, 1989 deaths showing as the last category of an item. -- Sine 05:35, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
