BetaEtaDelota, or simply Beta (real name Benjamin Duquette; born January 3, 1998), is a furry fan, YouTuber, and Twitch streamer from Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Biography[edit]

Beta studied Mechanical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 2020.

Fandom Involvement[edit]

BetaEtaDelota was a Guest of Honor at Texas Furry Fiesta 2021.[1]

Fursonas[edit]

BetaEtaDelota's primary fursona is a white with black fur patterned anthropomorphic Wolf Dragon named Maverick, which was created during the summer of 2018 and had been inspired by his previous primary fursona, a Hackmon.[2] Maverick's character stills can be seen wearing different clothing based on the season and situation; during fall Maverick wears a burgundy red Letterman jacket, While During the winter season he wears a grey fleece-lined hoodie. However, Maverick retains his normal red cloak (similar to what his Hackmon fursona has) and one of two different lifejackets throughout the year.

Previously, BetaEtaDelota's primary fursona was based on a hackmon (a hackmon being a dragon type Digimon) that was also named Maverick.[3] Maverick the Hackmon was initially named Cyye but this was soon changed (when?) as Beta found Maverick much cooler. Maverick also went through several design revisions as many were mistaking him for a wolf or a robot rather than a dragon. Like all of Beta's fursonas, Maverick features a plump bright orange (sometimes red) life jacket. The lifejacket is sometimes seen overinflated. Maverick the Hackmon's name was changed back to Cyye when Beta changed his primary fursona to Maverick the Wolf Dragon in late 2018, which was an OC he made around the same time.

BetaEtaDelota also has two other known fursonas: a blue Veemon (another type of dragon type Digimon), and Levi, who is a brown and red German Shepard (may also be considered a wolf/husky hybrid.) Levi also wears a life jacket, and was adopted with the intention of being a secret NSFW fursona, as Maverick is strictly SFW.[4]

Fursuit[edit]

BetaEtaDelota got his fursuit in July 2019. The suit was made by More Fur Less Inc and is modeled after his primary fursona, Maverick the Wolf Dragon.[5] He sometimes wears a custom Kigurumi with Maverick's markings, which he got in December 2018.[6]

In Febuary 2021 he unboxed a Kigurumi of his Levi fursona that was made by Pocket Wolf Customs.[7]

YouTube[edit]

Beta's main channel has 295,000 subscribers, 60.920.243 views, and 621 videos as of 1 January 2024.[8] Beta's second channel has 20.100 subscribers, 10.847.160 views, and 1.322 videos as of 20 April 2022.[9]

Before BetaEtaDelota[edit]

Before his current YouTube channel (BetaEtaDelota), Beta created a channel on 25 October 2012 called BHDwaffles which focuses mainly on gaming content and commentary. The channel was renamed to BetaEtaDelta around late 2014 and in mid 2021 to Bootles, but still posts similar content. It originally had an icon which depicted Kopa from the book collection The Lion King: Six New Adventures.[10]

Pre-ANE 2018[edit]

Beta's current YouTube channel was created on December 27, 2014.[11] Like BHDwaffles, it initially focused on gaming content and commentary.

On April 28, 2017, Beta published a video titled THE 7 LEVELS OF BEING A FURRY (Dante's Edition) which as of December 2018 had 830,000+ views. This video as of December 2018 is Beta's most viewed video and details what he believed to be the 7 levels of the furry fandom as based on Dante's Inferno.[12] Following this success Beta started producing more content related to the fandom.

On February 12, 2018, Beta announced that the focus of his channel was changing with a shift away from purely furry-based content to content he wanted to produce such as Fortnite gameplay. He stressed that he was still very much a furry but rather than producing purely furry-based content, he would produce one topical furry video for three videos that he wanted to make.[13]

ANE 2018[edit]

On March 6, 2018, less than a month after the video announcing a change in focus, Beta posted a YouTube video regarding his first furry convention following Anthro New England 2018 explaining that the experience changed his life. In this video, Beta detailed the life-changing experience of meeting his first YouTube fans as well as user Majira Strawberry.[14]

Prior to this convention, Beta considered himself the Kephrii of the furry community, as in a "toxic" figure who is popular but disliked by the mainstream community. However, meeting Majira as well as his overall experience at the convention changed his view on himself, the fandom, and how he relates to it. Beta stated in this video that his experience at Anthro New England 2018 saved him from a really dark place in his life.[14]

Post-ANE 2018[edit]

Following the events of Anthro New England 2018, most of the content on Beta's channel has been primarily focused on the furry fandom with topics ranging from conventions he has attended to things of note within the fandom.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, his content has mostly shifted to footage from his Twitch livestreams as a result of his plans being disrupted.
