Abel's Island

Abel's Island, written and illustrated by William Steig, is a novel about a mouse who is separated from his wife Amanda during a storm, and finds himself alone on an island. He tries to escape the island but is repeatedly thwarted in his attempts. Being forced to survive alone makes him discover hidden strength and examine his life and things he had taken for granted.
Abel's Island won the Newbery Honor.

Abel's Island was first published in 1976. Its eleventh printing was in 1994, by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, as a hardcover with the ISBN 0374300100. It was published in Canada by HarperCollins.[1] Most current paperback US edition is by Square Fish Press in 2007. ISBN 0312371438 ISBN-13 978-0312371432
