Brian Jacques (15 June 1939 - 5 February 2011) was the British author of the popular book series Redwall which features anthropomorphic animals. As of Feb. 2011 there have been 21 books in the series published and one forthcoming in 2011 (with possibly more completed novels not yet published). He was born in Liverpool, England, and worked as a railway fireman, a longshoreman, a long-distance truck driver, a bus driver, a boxer, a postmaster, a sailor, a singer/songwriter, a milkman, a Santa Claus, a bobby, and a comedian before penning the first book of the series.
