Pawperty Damage (which is a pun on the phrase "property damage") is an independent sandbox video game developed and published by DareLooks. The game was released on May 23, 2023, for Microsoft Windows (via Steam), MacOS and Linux. A free version of the game is available on itch(dot)i-o, but it doesn't include achievements or Steam's Remote Play feature. Pawperty Damage supports both Imperial units (feet) and Metric units (meters).

Its gameplay is reminiscent of the Rampage franchise by defunct game developer Midway Games, taking place in a limited open-world free-roam sandbox. Unlike Rampage, it takes place in an abandoned coastal seaside city.

As of November 2023, the game is in Version 1.3 in which players can import a VRM file of their VR(Chat) model(s) or a VR model of an existing character into the game via Workshop.

Main characters

All four anthropomorphic digitigrade characters are test subjects from the fictional company of Shrynx Laboratories.

  • Thrash (34) - A non-binary punk rock hyena and drummer for the band: Amp Rage. They have strong opinions about cops, landlords, and things in general. Thrash casually wears a sleeveless black hoodie, light brown shorts, a spiked wristband on their right arm, and piercings in their left ear.
  • Rache (39, full name Rachel Reed) - A female fox doctor with flexible ethics, but was fired due to her constant habit of "losing" lab assistants and co-workers. She dons casual doctor/scientist attire, goggles on her head, pants, and a marked-out nametag.
  • Vrex (27, actual name Vlad Dracorecz III) - A green shirtless agender dragon surf jock wearing yellow-trimmed orange shorts, with two wristbands (blue and yellow) and a crystal shard necklace.
  • Big Mig (43, actual name Miguel Cortez) - A male panther with blue overalls and a red bandana around his neck.

Alternate costumes

Alongside their default wardrobe attire, each character has one alternative costume:

  • "Toxic Waste" (Thrash) - The shorts they wear is green instead of brown and have striped fur instead of spotted fur.
  • "Brilliant Bio-Engineer" (Rache) - Her labcoat and goggles is yellow, and pants are a darker color.
  • "Hot Sauce Connoisseur" (Vrex) - Has green-trimmed blue shorts with two wristbands (blue and purple).
  • "Painter Panther" (Big Mig) - He wears white overalls and the bandana is green instead of red.

Free Character Skin Pack

This free DLC adds six more alternate costumes for the characters. One more for Rache and Vrex; two more for Thrash and Big Mig.

Thrash

  • "Tricky Treats" - Consists of a two-hearted light blue hoodie, dark blue shorts, and spotted fur akin to a lava lamp.
  • "Hobby Occultist" - Consists of striped fur with black hoodie and shorts; also has face-paint reminiscent of the rock band Kiss.

Rache

  • "Failed Professor" - Consists of brown labcoat, dark brown pants, has orange eyes, and red goggles on her head.

Vrex

  • "V-R3X" - Consists of metallic skin and yellow-trimmed black shorts with two wristbands (black and yellow).

Big Mig

  • "Bromance Botanist" - Consists of dark green overalls and a light green bandana around his neck.
  • "General Striker" - Resembles more of a snow leopard; consists of blue eyes, blue-striped overalls, and a purple bandana.

There are no plans to add more to the base roster. However, as of version 1.3, players can add their VR(Chat) model(s) into the game, or import a VR model of an existing character (such as Roxanne Wolf from the 2021 video game "Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach") via Workshop.

Gameplay

During "Crush Hour" and "Time Attack" modes, the player's default locked-in height is at 54 feet (16.5 m). The player's character gradually grows as they cause destruction. A simple paw attack, kick or a stomp, uses stamina. Picking up and eating vehicles, or just waiting via standing still, replenish stamina.

Game modes

Main

  • Crush Hour: Get a high score by simply causing as much destruction as possible in 5 minutes.
  • Time Attack: Destroy 100% of the city as fast as possible. There is no time limit.

Other

  • Sandbox: No time-limit, no stamina. Have fun!
  • Custom: Fully customizable game mode, such as changing your default height (as small as 13 feet (3.9 m) or as tall as 1,344 feet (406.5 m)), adjust your growth rate from destroying buildings, etc..
  • Photo: This is basically "Sandbox" mode with advanced camera options to capture beautiful screenshots.
  • Multiplayer: Play in split-screen with up to three other players in local play. There is no online play and is only available on Steam.
