Sage Nadia

y'know man, you should really fix sage nadia's article.

I know this site's not known for being a reliable source of neutral point of view, but her article's really off the track. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.53.151.146 (talkcontribs) .

thanks and no problem...

What is wrong with Cubist????

Honestly, what is this person's problem? Their retort to my post is baffling to say that least - as if they're on the verge of insanity or something...

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Cubist, Have you ever even considered the the situation might be a result of the "breakdown of diplomacy"? If neither side is willing to lower their sabre, at least part way, things will only continue the way they have been.

Removing his name would not necessarily have to be permanent - whether it remains off the article would be dependant upon Mozdoc's future conduct.

It seems that in this day and age, the only thing being polite and respectful gets a person is ignored, told to f - off, or hit. And THAT is what I believe is going on with Mozdoc - society has kind of taught him the bad habit that unless you are confrontational and ready to resort to force, people will not listen to you.

If we are going to judge Mozdoc on what society as a whole has drummed into him, then we need also judge ourselves.

Do we wish to continue on this downward spiral that civilization is sliding down, or do we wish to TRY to at least slow the degeneration?

All hail VLADUZ - the EBAY IMPALER! 22:14, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Shorter 'Vladuz': "If we don't remove Mozdoc's real name from his Wikifur page, the terrorists win!" Overblown histrionics much, V-boy? I say you're a concern troll, and I say the hell with you. And my vote remains the same. Cubist 11:14, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

I ask you, is there ANYTHING in my post that could be considered an attack on Cubist? And do you know of any reason why Cubist would choose to launch an attack upon me?

All hail VLADUZ - the EBAY IMPALER! 17:31, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

The simplest conclusion is that he is being honest - that the reason for his assertion is he believes you to be a concern troll. I don't see any reason to suggest that he is implying that you made an attack on him - just that he strongly disagrees with you and suspects your motives. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:03, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

QUOTE CUBIST: Shorter 'Vladuz': "If we don't remove Mozdoc's real name from his Wikifur page, the terrorists win!" Overblown histrionics much, V-boy?

Right. He believes that your statements are overblown histronics. The form of his expression might be considered an attack on you, but does not imply that he felt that you attacked him, as you said. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:08, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

"A concern troll is a false flag pseudonym created by a user whose point of view is opposed to the one that the user's sockpuppet claims to hold. The concern troll posts in web forums devoted to its declared point of view and attempts to sway the group's actions or opinions while claiming to share their goals, but with professed "concerns". The goal is to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt within the group."

Excuse me a moment... (Falls out of chair laughing).

Ok, so let me get this straight - because I am TRYING to to get both sides to stand down to some degree, Cubist is claiming that I am Mozdoc using a second account???? Oh good lord, not ANOTHER person like "triple W" :)) Why is it anytime someone doesn't agree, they have to claim that the person they disagree with is a "sock"???? That is really pathetic, do you not think?

All hail VLADUZ - the EBAY IMPALER! 18:14, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

No, that is not the meaning of the term. He appears to believe that you do not actually support the same goals as the wiki, but are trying to subvert them by pretending that you do. For example, if giving people fair treatment was one of the goals of the wiki you might express concerns that Mozdoc is not getting fair treatment, thereby hoping to elicit sympathy from those who would otherwise have a neutral or negative opinion. The trouble with making such assertions is that people's motives are unknown to us without some external form of confirmation, therefore they are hard to prove or disprove. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:31, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

The method Cubist used to do it is SO childish, it makes me wonder if I should just put him/her over me knee and spank him/her. :))

Mozdoc needs to learn to control his temper - I can sympathize with that. I also know how most of society can literally drive people like Mozdoc to such actions.

By only using punishment against him, we only further reinforce his behavior. That's not to say we should just give in and remove it to stop threats - just the opposite. HOWEVER, If it is removed, and you and the others make it CLEARLY known that 1 - it CAN be added in again should the threats resume. 2 - that it is being done for fairness sake.

I believe it will have a greater positive impact not only on the conflict but upon Mozdoc himself.

By the way, kindly take a look at my user page ;) :)) That should (hopefully) show we are two different peole - Mozdoc tends to simply open fire, wjile I tend to toy with those who make such pathetic attacks.

So I am a SOCK?? WHY am I always the last to know these things? :)) 18:55, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

As far as I know, the only person who has brought up the concept of you being the same person as Mozdoc is you. The assertions made by Cubist relate to the pursuit of similar goals while professing neutrality, not similar identity.
I am unsure how much any of us can help Mozdoc. I've talked to him on several occasions and made no long-term progress. The whole reason the page is here in the first place is that counseling hasn't worked to stop the harassment of others in the fandom. As I understand it, its purpose isn't to coerce the subject into good behaviour (because punishment doesn't work), but to ameliorate the effects of his bad behaviour on others. The question is whether or not the real name is a requirement for this. --GreenReaper(talk) 19:31, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Content Concern

Hey dude! I have a suggestion that Wiki Fur needs to be kept PG rated as possible since we don't want people offended by nude and yiff images. I have to change an image from one of the articles here. Remember you have furries going to this site from all over the world and we need to respect them as much as we can. ChuongChoSoi 18:02, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello Chuong. WikiFur policy (like Wikipedia's policy) is that our content may be of any rating because of the variety of topics within the fandom. There are many topics of a mature nature, and some mature elements within other topic. We appreciate that there are differences in morals around the world, but we would rather not censor ourselves just to fit the more restrictive societies.
Nevertheless, I thank you for changing the picture, not because the original picture was naked, but because I believe it is a better (more accurate) depiction of fat furs. That said, you do not appear to be the copyright holder, so I must ask you - did you obtain permission to use it from the author, gokutothez? If we are not talking about the specific character, it is not fair for us to use it without permission. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:22, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Sage Nadia again

Why are things so slow around here? her article's been tagged as being a pile of biased shit (my own words) and yet any edit gets reverted to this steaming pile of turd. what's going on with you?

The page is not protected. If you have a problem with it, I suggest you edit it yourself - and recent edits do not demonstrate the reversions that you claim. I am somewhat preoccupied at the moment and cannot guarantee to give it any significant time in the near future. --GreenReaper(talk) 17:16, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Entry: Thaily

Greetings Mr.GreenReaper,

I am writing this on behalf of Thaily Brimstone, her page, Thaily Brimstone has been restored. Could you please remove this and lock it down. She does not wish to have any article about her on this site.

Thank you for your understanding,

PeglaSkunk

Please, call me Green. ;-)
I have in fact just done this, after a conversation with Thaily over ICQ to clarify her intentions. The main issue was the percieved non-neutrality of excluding some pieces of information but not others; we're actually more comfortable with complete exclusion, and it seems so was Thaily, so everyone's happy. --GreenReaper(talk) 08:22, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Assistance requested in adding "Rukario" to the list of fursuiters.

Good Evening GreenReaper:

I am looking for assistance in adding "Rukario" to the list of clickable fursuit links on Wikifur under the heading of "fursuit".

Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly apprecriated.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Prosperous Regards,

Rukario 23:21, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello Rukario - I moved the page about you to the main namespace, and added the necessary categories. You should appear in Category:Fursuiters now. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey GreenReaper, I'm sorry to bother you but something has been bugging me the last couple of days, I can never stay logged in on wikifur, everytime I revisit the site, I have to log back in and I can't figure out why? please let me know what is happening, thank you - RVDDP2501 02:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Something to do with your browser? You could try clearing out the cookies for wikia.com to see if that is the problem. They might have changed something on their end, though. I've not seen that problem recently myself. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:31, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Admissibility of Happy Feet-related articles

Hello,

When Higgs Raccoon (d · c) created this article about me, I was pleased, of course. This event lead me to think more of the concept of this wiki, and it is actually very good. I now want to contribute on it as much as I do on Wikipedia.

I just wanted to know, since Higgs Raccoon (d · c) wikified the word Happy Feet, if we were allowed:

  1. To make an article about the Happy Feet Fan Forum, constituted by some furs, and perhaps more than we know. This page is under the GFDL as well, can I copy some informations from it? Where do the authors need to be credited? Talk page or article page?
  2. To put gigantic informations about this movie, a sort of analysis, and its application to the fandom? Can we upload pictures, using the fair use act?

Thanks for your upcoming replies! :) Diti (talk to the penguin) 14:43, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

There's basically two options for the forum - either create Happy Feet and make the forum a subsection of that, or create Happy Feet Fan Forum. The normal thing to do is the latter - have a separate article for the forum. I would suggest tightening the language in the history section a little, though. It should concentrate on the facts, not subjective statements like "grew quickly" (how quickly?). The talk page should mention and link to the prior article.
We tend not to do really huge articles about commercial works because Wikipedia does it better than us. We are not created to compete with them in their field of expertise - we would rather readers and editors went there instead. Therefore, what I would recommend is to make an article with an overview of the movie, but which concentrates specifically on the usage of Happy Feet within the furry fandom (which Wikipedia is not likely to cover), and then point people to Wikipedia's article in the "See also" section. Fair use is fine. --GreenReaper(talk) 01:04, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Blacklisted URL Causing Problems with Reverting Vandal Edit.

The Edit at http://en.wikifur.com/w/index.php?title=God_Hates_Furries&diff=209021&oldid=201069 shows blatant vandalism and was reported by my bot as made by a blacklisted user. The problem is there is a URL in the revert that is listed as one of Wikia blacklisted URLs and is preventing me from making the revert. Since you have the access level can you make the revert? Sawblade5 10:24, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Please disregard this message I got the problem fixed on #wikia on Freenode. Sawblade5 10:26, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Opening the door...

Question: How come there is an article on centaurs but not one on mermaids? Recently, I was going to write a article about mermaids and I saw the log about it being deleted because it's "not furry". I don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence here but, a centaur is "top half human, lower half horse" (you know what I mean) and a mermaid is "half woman half fish" I seriously don't see the problem...

Is it because there are foxtaurs, skunktaurs and chakats, and one would be very hard pressed to find a picture of a furry mermaid? Or because if an article on the mermaid is allowed, it'll open the door for articles on the lamia (half woman half snake), medusa, the harpy and anansi (part man, part spider I think)?

I'm confused... Tai 1 03:27, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Did you have a look at the past discussion on Talk:Mermaid? That might answer some of your questions. -- Sine 19:14, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

I didn't realise that was a talk:Mermaid link...I still don't agree about why there isn't a mermaid entry though...Tai 1 22:51, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Toolbox in ru.wikifur.com

Hi, GreenReaper. Thank you for creating Wikifur.com itself and Russian language part! Toolbox on the left sidebar has wrong link to Upload file feature. It needs to be changed to Служебная:Upload. As for now I have many questions to you about customization of ru.wikifur.com. Which way of contacting you is more appropriate for questions regarding ru.wikifur? (email, IRC, ICQ, maybe ru.talk page, any other) OckhamTheFox 07:11, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Ockham! My contact information is here (make sure you are logged on). Email, IRC and/or ICQ is fine - I am always on the first two if awake. As for the images, the plan had been to upload all new images to the pool wiki, so that they could be used on all languages (like Wikimedia Commons) - but if you think that is not going to work I can change the link back. --GreenReaper(talk)

One shared file repository is a good idea for saving server drive space. But motivation of anon users to register is lowered since no more extra feature of uploading files available. Ok, so be it. The second problem is russification of WikiFur namespace. ВикиФур: is counted like articles and may appear in Random articles. For example ru.wikipedia Википедия: is counted the same as in en.wikipedia Wikipedia:. OckhamTheFox 15:54, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Honestly, the disk space is not so important as the time. It takes work to translate a page. If you have to upload all of the images in it as well, that is more work. I would like to avoid that work for most images. People still need to register to use the image pool (but we would like to make it be just one registration for all WikiFur in the near future). If there is any interface text that needs to be changed on the pool wiki to help Russian contributors, I would be glad to do so. Images can still be uploaded locally by going directly to Special:Upload.
The problem with ВикиФур: is that ВикиФур was not the name of the project namespace. WikiFur was, because that was the site name, and by default the site name is the name of the project namespace. I have changed the name of the site to ВикиФур and adjusted the database so that the pages already created are in the project namespace rather than the main namespace. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:18, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Google Analytics

I would have Google Analytics in my wikia wiki (Ilercavònia), what can I do? Can you help me, please??? Thank you very much! → ebrenc 10:51, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

The thing to do is probably to ask community@wikia.com to enable the additional Analytics account for the wiki. You should set up an Analytics account and tell them the user ID that needs to be used, and the wiki that it is to be on. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:33, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Article deletion

I was wondering if you could delete User:Nekonaru Letao and Nekonaru Letao. I don't really want/need them anymore, and I'm trying to cut down the amount of information about me. If I just edit it out, it can be found in previous versions, but if it's deleted, then it's a bit harder to find.

Nekonaru Letao 18:27, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

I can help you with this. Your User page is your area so it can be handled how you like. Your article can be handled under the personal exclusion policy. If you change your mind, or a lesser exclusion would be acceptable(for instance, excluding the real name only), let any admin know. --Rat 18:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

People blanking own articles - explanation template?

Hey there GreenReaper,

I just wanted to ask one thing: I think we all know that many people often just blank their own articles, either not knowing or not caring about exclusions. As far as I know this behavior is not really wanted by anyone of us, thus my question here:
As those people have to be told about the possibility of an exclusion after they blanked their article without knowing, it is always somehow necessary to tell them, explain and direct them to the correct pages. so, is there maybe any template containing this informations, that could just be added to a user's talkpage AFTER they tried blanking their own article? This would make explaining easier and much faster I guess. I think that'd be a nice idea, just as a suggestion of mine.
Have a nice day, greetings, RealZero 07:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't think there is one at this time. You're welcome to start one, and add it to WikiFur:Templates! Just remember, it can be a good idea to personalize the information and often it's better to try and follow up with them directly rather than leaving a note on their talk page. --GreenReaper(talk) 07:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Finding all pages linking to an article

Hey there, just another question from me. I know that, of course, it's important to change all links if you moved an article to a new name so everything keeps working fine. Thus my question: Is is somehow possible to see all pages linking to a specific article, like it is shown at uploaded pictures? Or which way can this be handled otherwise, as I think just searching for the corresponding word in the article search is not working very well.
Thanks for your answer in advance. Greetings, RealZero 11:36, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, RealZero. The toolbox on the left side of the page should have What links here. It leads to http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/User_talk:GreenReaper and should work for any page--just put that page name after the final slash. -- Sine 18:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, stupid me proved his blindness again I guess. Thanks very much for the answer *bows*. Greetings, RealZero 19:39, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

file-template

The german version of the file-upload -page mentions a template named "Dateiinfo" to be used. That template does not exist and it is strange to find one with a german name here. Could this be a mistake my owolf, trying to add it to de.furry.wikia.com instead? --Suran 07:31, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

It is odd . . . that page was not created by any user, but instead has been set as the default for that message in German on all wikis. In fact, it is incorrect in several ways (for example, it is not just free images that should be uploaded). If you can to translate the English one, I would be glad to put that on instead. --GreenReaper(talk) 07:37, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
I added a translation to my talk-page. --Suran 07:56, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

ru.wikifur

Registered =^.^=

  1. can I has admeen rollez plz? :))
  2. interwiki works from ru to en but not the other way?
  3. how do we transfer images from here to commons? There are quite a few that we need to share. -- Wesha 13:24, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
I also have this question regarding file transfert on WikiFur Commons (how do we name this website, by the way?). Is that possible to keep image history while transferring? Also, what about page history, that we have to export then import (which requires sysop rights on Commons) to not to violate GFDL license? Diti (talk to the penguin) 14:14, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
  1. Yes, just be careful with them. No running with scissors!
  2. It does for now, yes. I will ask. In the worst case, we can fix it up fairly easily with pywikipediabot at a later date. es: and ru: have now been added on furry.wikia.com. I will be using User:ReaperBot to apply interwiki links.
  3. I recommend using pywikipediabot's imagetransfer.py using wikifur-family.py. It adds a digest of page history for GFDL compliance. I have enabled sysop access, though you may create a bot account if you prefer (let me know and I will add it to the bot group).
Right now, it is called the pool wiki, or the shared image wiki. There has also been a suggestion of calling it the furpile, though I am unsure whether that would work or not. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:42, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

request from RVDDP2501 - name change

Hey GreenReaper, i'm sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you could change a article name for me, can you change the 'Eve' article - http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Eve - to 'Eve Mahn' - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1635852/ - I'll be updating the picture shortly, thank you :) - RVDDP2501 12:08, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

/index.php?

Thanks for spotting that redirect problem - you're right that fullurl should have been used, but I've also fixed our .htaccess files so it shouldn't happen again. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:39, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Of course, that won't be necessary when the move is complete - in fact I think it will have to be undone then. So was it really necessary? --Fibonacci 03:54, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Maybe not, but I said it would work before and after the move, and I like to keep my promises about such things. Plus, it only took a few minutes. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 08:46, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Inserted redirects to templates instead of regular template.

Hey there GreenReaper, I have a question regarding templates in articles:
Many articles, like for example Gathering of the Gargoyles have some kind of redirect-text to a template in them, in this case for the inappropriate template, instead of the actual template "image". Is this some kind of error and should be changed if one comes across them, or does this actually has some kind of sense? Thanks in advance for your answer, I hope I haven't missed anything obvious again.
Greetings, RealZero 15:53, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

{{Appropriate}} was moved to {{Inappropriate}} without changing the template pages which redirected to {{Appropriate}} as well. Templates only follow redirects once. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. --GreenReaper(talk) 21:45, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Central WikiFur

There are almost 150 articles on the wiki right now - are any of them good enough to show or link on the front page? You could look at how the other wikis have done it; there are many ways. GreenReaper 09:50 9 nov 2008 (UTC)

I'm working on the new design of the front page. I'm trying to take the best from the Russian model and apply it to the English model (the fact that I don't know Russian is not stopping me). --Fibonacci 21:41, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

All signs point to yes. --GreenReaper(talk) 21:14, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

How about reconsidering me or just flat out removing and getting rid of the entire article about me? I'm sick of being a part of WikiFur, I've told you countless times that I do not want my name on here, please remove me.

SVG

What version of ImageMagick is installed on the WikiFur servers? I just tried to rasterize http://pool.wikifur.com/wiki/Image:Flag_of_Argentina.svg locally with ImageMagick 6.3.7 and it works like a charm. --Fibonacci 03:52, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Version: ImageMagick 6.4.4 2008-10-21 Q16 http://www.imagemagick.org Copyright: Copyright (C) 1999-2008 ImageMagick Studio LLC. --GreenReaper(talk) 11:04, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Turns out my local install of ImageMagick was using the rsvg libraries. So that's the reason the conversion worked fine.
I just tried a locally-compiled version on some flags, and found that most do not render correctly (except very simple ones, such as the flag of Italy). Should I upload correctly-rendered PNG flags instead of the SVG files? --Fibonacci 02:35, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Would probably be the easiest solution. Rendered versions can be lifted from Wikipedia's previews. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:55, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

DNP Request

Hello Greenreaper, I understand you are in charge of this website. I wish to have my entry (under the alter ego "BullGator") deleted, locked and added to your site's "DNP" equivalent due to a pair of trolls who are continuing to vandalise the entry. As my involvement in the furry community has now evolved to virtual zero and I have no interest in childish edit wars, I look forward to instructions as to how a DNP request is to be formally undertaken. BullGator 09:22, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

I have posted the exclusion request on the talk page, and will perform the exclusion proper within 24 hours unless further debate arises. --GreenReaper(talk) 01:49, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Automatic spam filter blocking edit

Hey there Green Reaper,
I wanted to edit the article Furry Hosting and change the links at the bottom so that they actually link to the website. The problem here is, that the wiki's automated spam filter blocks the given URL. Could you somehow link the links or tell me what to do about this? Greetings. I tried to remove my article, as I no longer wish to be on this site, but it got reverted. Could you please exculde me? I haven't been active in the fandom for a very long time, and probably won't be any time soon. Gnistra 12:35, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Done, much belatedly. --mwalimu 19:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Pool not working?

See my change: Love_Can_Be_Different. Worked in RU but not here... -- Wesha 00:30, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

That is because the pool is not used by Wikia-hosted wikis. You must upload the image here as well. This limitation will only be removed once migration has been completed. --GreenReaper(talk) 03:14, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Also, stuff from Wikicommons does properly show on Pool, but not on RU? -- Wesha 15:25, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Not really sure where you got that idea. It shouldn't show up anywhere, because we're not linked to Wikimedia Commons. --GreenReaper(talk) 05:16, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh I got it. Somebody helpfully uploaded Image:Red copyright.svg from commons to here... I was wondering because my Template:Message box designs from wiki* started working here magically... But! The main question was: why copyright image shows on http://pool.wikifur.com/wiki/Image:Simba_pic.jpg and not on http://ru.wikifur.com/wiki/%D0%98%D0%B7%D0%BE%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B6%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B5:Simba_pic.jpg ? The image is in the pool, so it puzzles me... -- Wesha 15:43, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Well, it does show up for me. :-) Maybe you need to force a refresh/clear cache? --GreenReaper(talk) 15:50, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Again, you sure the red © shows in the message box on http://ru.wikifur.com/wiki/%D0%98%D0%B7%D0%BE%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B6%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B5:Simba_pic.jpg ? Doesn't for me, and I tried it in IE and it turns out it tries to get http://ru.wikifur.com/w/images/thumb/1/1d/Red_copyright.svg/60px-Red_copyright.svg.png -- which is weird... -- Wesha 15:56, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I see what you mean. No, it is not visible, the template is pointing to a local URL (that's the thumbnail for the image). Looks like a MediaWiki bug. --GreenReaper(talk) 16:04, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
So can you please investigate? I believe it works on wikipedia cluster. -- Wesha 16:29, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Message From RVDDP2501 - Extinctioners protection

Hey GreenReaper, I'm sorry if this may seem overboard but I was wondering if it would be possible to try and protect the Extinctioners wiki article as I have just learned in recent hours that everything extinctioners as been 'attacked' by a hacker(s), everything from Yahoo groups being deleated to Shawntae Howard's own FA & DA acounts being wiped clean. I hope I don;t come across as acting paranoid but from the looks of things, it seems some one is gunning for Extinctioners and the wiki article could be a target, you can read the report/forum on FA here - http://forums.furaffinity.net/showthread.php?t=35514 - Please let me know what you feel should be done, thank you and take care - RVDDP2501 19:39, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Ah ok I see, thanks, I guess I was a little worried that if someone could hack their way into FA, DA and the yahoo groups and mess around to the extent they did, they could do something permanent here as well, I guess I was a little jumpy, thanks again and take care - RVDDP2501 21:58, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Help with image

Hi there,

I uploaded a few images of my fursuits, but didn't realize under after I'd done it that "rat.jpg" and "panther.jpg" was far too general a file name - is there any way to change the names? Or, is there any way to delete these files so I can re-upload them with more appropriate names?

Also, I hope this is where I'm supposed to ask this, I'm not very wiki-savvy.

Thanks, --Wgg the Gnoll 18:37, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Sure, I've deleted those for you. There's no way to move images at this time, although I understand that functionality is being developed. --GreenReaper(talk) 20:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Webring

Hi,

Please advise why you dumped my Webring code. I put it back, because I thought it was a great idea to have the Hyper Police page in the Hyper Police Ring. I didn't even know that this place existed until I did a Hyper Police search and I am sure that there are lots of others that don't know about it either, so a Webring is a great way to bring more traffic here. I hope you will let me keep it here. Also, I have seen other Webrings on here.

Thank you,

--Noriko Mori 03:58, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

A webring is not useful for a wiki article on a topic because it is basically a replacement for a set of links. These links should instead be placed in the article's external links section of the article if they are of sufficient relevance and contain useful information, and not linked at all if they are not.
Webrings were great for finding relevant sites ten years ago. They're pretty much redundant with search, now. If you find one on here, you are welcome to replace it with specific links to useful websites on the ring. We're not interested in being part of any. If websites find us useful, they're welcome to link directly if they wish.
We do cover them at Category:Web rings, but only because the more long-running webrings have become valid encyclopedic topics by themselves. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:13, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I have been involved with Webring ever since its inception and I find it quite insulting of you to put down all my hard work with them like that. I run some 40 rings, myself and have lots of friends there. I feel very sad that you don't welcome us here...

--Noriko Mori 04:23, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Noriko

I'm sorry, but it is my honest opinion. We're here to provide information. A webring that you just created provides no additional value over direct links to the relevant sites. It is therefore redundant and so was removed from the article.
I also feel it is inappropriate for us to be part of webrings that relate to our article content, as it implicitly promotes a particular group of websites related to that topic. We do not participate in link exchanges or banner trading either. The links we provide are based solely on the quality of the sites' content, and are not for sale or exchange. --GreenReaper(talk) 05:32, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

RL name linked against noted wishes

Sebkha apparently put my truename on and it redirects to Zjonni. The notes on Zjonni expressly say I don't want that, but it appears this was done a month before the do-not-want note and not caught when I put the note up. I can edit the redirect page, but cannot apparently, erase it. Can you kindly make it go away?

Thanks!

Feel free to mail me if you aren't sure which page I am talking about.

It has been removed. --GreenReaper(talk) 17:43, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello GreenReaper. I'm Kiba the Fox, an user from the french-speaking WikiFur, and a member of Francefurs. I'd like to change my WikiFur nickname, would it be possible ?

Hi Kiba! It is not possible for me to change your user nickname on Wikia-hosted wikis. However, you can create another account and then put #REDIRECT [[User:Your new name]] on it to direct people to that account. Bear in mind that usernames are shared through all wikia.com sites, so your new name will need to be distinctive. --GreenReaper(talk) 09:01, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Suspicious new account activity

There have been several recent new user accounts with names that look fishy to me, and I'd suggest being on our guard that their originator may be setting up to spam the site or launch a bot attack. Do you have the ability to run an IP trace on their origins? Do you think it would be overreacting to preemptively block them?

The accounts in question:

Delete page

Hello, My name is Jarett Humphrey. I am a board of director for Helping Pawz. A page has been added to WikkiFur with out our permission and I need it to be deleted. Helpiing Pawz is not a furry group and has no furry association. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Please reply to me by e-mail as I do not have a wikkifur page.

Jarett email address removed

Replying by email. Readers should note that the advance permission of subjects is neither sought nor required for WikiFur articles, particularly for public non-profit organizations. --GreenReaper(talk) 05:58, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Helpiing Pawz ... has no furry association.
What nonsense. Many (if not all) of the performers are members of the furry fandom (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc), and they have worn their costumes at several furry conventions.--Higgs Raccoon 14:23, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
The point does remain that they're allowed to have themselves excluded, though, Higgs. Just like lots of other furs and groups have requested, But, just throwing that out there. --IanKeith 03:35, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
There is a big difference between an individual and a registered association. Note also that the people making the edits to our articles about the performers did not appear to be the individuals concerned, but a representative of the association, who is not permitted to assert any exclusion rights for those pages. I think we have since found an option that may satisfy them, though; see the relevant talk page. --GreenReaper(talk) 03:41, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Page: Raykese

Hey, GR. I tried undoing a blanking on the page Raykese, suggesting that user Slicktified contact an admin about getting it removed instead. He instead re-blanked the page. Is there something we can do about this? --IanKeith 03:33, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I deleted the page because it was already marked as potentially inappropriate and I agreed. To answer the more general question, we'll be getting AbuseFilter shortly that should allow an automated response to that kind of action. --GreenReaper(talk) 03:44, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Innacuracy posted by a troll

There is a person who posted a paragraph that needs refuted for inaccuracy. This person is a troll from YouTube that several times has twisted peoples words and used them out of context. The link to the user's page (which contains the info in question) is furry.wikia.com/wiki/Paxil_rose

As a side note i need to state that paxilrose is a banned youtube troll who would argue with furries for months. His original account was youtube.com/user/paxilrose. If you check that link you will see he was put on permanent suspension. Also paxilrose isn't even a furry, so why should he have a wikifur page anyway unless it was strictly to talk just about him and nobody else? This isn't TrollWiki or ED. Accuracy and Cleanness exist here.

The middle paragraph about wolfeedarkfang, is inaccurate. Heres several things i can find wrong with it just by glancing.

"a profile on BeastForum was found belonging to Wolfee Darkfang" This was never proven. He wishes it was though, and will say and do anything to make it look like it.

"Wolfee created various sockpuppet accounts" This was also never proven. You can't tell who is who on the internet without seeing their faces. The problem here is he wants it to look like anyone who sticks up for me on YouTube is a fake so that it looks like i have no real supporters in his drama.

A little commentary. This doesn't have to account for anything but I want to quote this. "paxilrose joined Fur Affinity forums to regal furries with tales of his exploits and to offer warnings to those who may take the furry fandom too serious" I've been told throughout the years by other furs that FAF has been taken over by trolls for some time. So a troll goes to a furry forum taken over by trolls to get the furries to stop being trolled while also trolling furries himself in the past... Sounds like more of the same old stuff. >.<

wolfeedarkfang 21:16, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

The appropriate venue for this conversation is Talk:Paxil rose. I suggest you post comments there. --GreenReaper(talk) 21:21, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I find Darkfangs request to be out of line. As stated, this is a fairly well known scandal involving him, and thus is as relevant as the Furry War page. The pictures are accurate accounts of events (the profile and admission, respectively) and I will point out Darkfangs own user page for additional information, since he's written quite a bit on the subject himself with far less references. Given that this is openly a user edited wiki, I strongly disagree that "unauthorized" use of his name is even an issue.

I also want to cite the user page of the furry known as Sibe. This individual has quite a negative reputation based on his actions, yet somehow these actions are deemed relevant enough to warrant being added to his page. The same standards should be held for Wolfee Darkfang. I, however, am at least giving him the privilege of not having it on his primary page (though if Sibe's antics are somehow important enough to be allowed on his page, I think the same should go for Darkfang).

If relevance to my page is the only cocnern, I'd be more than happy to make a new page for it. However, the admins of this site should make themselves clear whether this is an issue of relevance in regards to certain pages, or whether they believe some controversial members actions are acceptable material to mention and others are not and why they think that is. --Paxilrose 16:00, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

The point is the article needs to be strictly about you, and not me. I do not wissh information to be here about me unless i authorize it's presence. especially when it's written by a known troll who has it out for me. wolfeedarkfang 17:53, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Wolfeedarkfang

Excuse me Mr Fang, but I do believe you yourself use your page to defame "furry haters" Empiroqkriticizmus and Jumpacliff2. I assume you got their permission before putting them there?

Other than that, I stand by my original statements. The sections as relevant as the furry war and far less slanderous than the Sibe article. You know as well as I that I can and will go out and source every other sentence in the article, so inaccuracy isn't the issue either.--Paxilrose 02:47, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

User registration IP lookup

How does someone with regular admin privs like me look up the IP address that a new user registered from? Or is that a capability that is only available to "super-admins" and wikia support? --mwalimu 17:28, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Reply to "Cut the fluff"

Quentin "editor of ANTHRO" Long here. Thank you for looking over ANTHRO and offering suggestions on how to reduce the zine's download time! Alas, three of your five suggestions are out of the question, and one of the remaining two may or may not be fully usable...

Well, one is a lot better than none! I suspect the first two will be no trouble, and fortunately they would also have the most impact.

Enable GZip compression: If this can be fine-tuned to not mess with graphics, I like it a lot. Since I make a point of tryna reduce the filesize of graphic images just because, I am unsure how much more "hot air" can be squoze out of the zine's graphics WITHOUT mucking up the visual quality thereof. Also, it's worth noting that compressing a compressed file tends to yield results ranging from "insignificantly small additional reduction" to "BOOSTED filesize"... Anywho, I will look into this. Regardless of the effects on graphics, text (such as HTML files) compresses down real good, so this may be a win no matter what.

Normally you would scope it to the file types you wanted to cover (e.g. HTML/CSS/JS, and not any compressed images or other files) - see here for an example.

Enable far-future cache control expiry: Sounds interesting, and whatever downsides it may have are, at the very least, highly inobvious. I am unsure how to do this thing (my webhost is GoDaddy, for what that's worth), but I will look into it.

You could ask them - it's likely that you can add an Apache directive or two to a .htaccess file in the directory concerned (and that's probably the way you'd end up enabling gzip as well). An example of WikiFur's expiry settings:
<LocationMatch ^/favicon\.(ico|png)$>
  ExpiresActive On
  ExpiresDefault A34560000
</LocationMatch>

Use styled text in place of graphic headers: Not gonna happen. I want my titles to be Avant Garde Bold with seriously tight kerning; given the brute fact that it's a crapshoot whether or not J. Random Websurfer even has AGB installed on his machine in the first place, let alone whether or not his browser can do letterspacing properly, I think graphic-text titles are the least-worst way to ensure that every reader gets to see the titles the way said titles are supposed to be.

If not for the fact that MSIE uses a proprietary font embedding format instead of plain TrueType/OpenType like everyone does, there would be a less worse way to ensure a reasonable number of reader can see the custom font. In the meantime, wikipedia:en:sIFR seems to be a neat hack. --猫夜叉ネコヤシャ 16:36, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Replace graphic elements with CSS: Not gonna happen. CSS works very well indeed whenever it does work... but when it doesn't, God only knows what you may end up with on your screen. From where I sit, CSS is a crapshoot and I just don't want to roll that pair of dice.

Fair enough. Just understand the cost - the user has to download all those images. The cost can be reduced by combining images into a CSS sprite and using background-position to specify a portion of it for the image element, but that of course requires that you use CSS.

Convert main logo to PNG: Not gonna happen. One of my standard browsers crashes on contact with PNG-format graphics files. Yes, this browser is seriously old. If you think I should blow off those readers who aren't using This Year's Latest And Greatest Browser, well, we're just going to have to agree to disagree, is all.

I'm confused - are you referring to Internet Explorer 4? The one which last had a noticeable percentage of users in 2002? IE6 isn't the best with alpha-blended PNGs (though there are workarounds), but for GIF-replacement you just need to save them as indexed-mode (256-color) PNGs anyway. Sites like Yahoo and Wikipedia (and WikiFur) use such images right on the front page.
I suggest looking at what browsers your users are actually using - if you have log files, they should be able to provide this information. For this site, IE versions older than IE6 have less than 0.05% of the audience, and all of them are IE5. We get more visits from the PlayStation 3, and I didn't even know that had a web browser. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:21, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Tipp

I'd be glad to post irc logs of him harssing me and my friends on various networks. He seems to do the same. RingtailedFox 17:31, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

WikiFur is not intended as a primary source. Please post them elsewhere and provide links, perhaps on the talk page associated with the article. Bear in mind that we may have a different idea of what constitutes harassment, especially given that you seem to be attempting to escalate the conflict through your editing. --GreenReaper(talk) 17:37, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
That's not true at all. If you want a wiki based on truth, you may as well mention the truth, no matter how ugly it is. You have articles on Sibe harassing and trolling others... Tipp is just another in a long line of furs that hate other furs. I'll post the logs on my website, and use those as references. RingtailedFox 17:39, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Take it to Talk:Tipp the talk page. --GreenReaper(talk) 17:43, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Already done. RingtailedFox 17:49, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

from forza

LOL sorry about the size i got carried away! Can I make a history/story page and link to it from within the wiki page for the character?

We're not really a story hosting site - and you probably wouldn't want us to be, either, as all the stuff on here is editable. If you really want, you could login and create a page at User:Forza Ninetails/History (click the link to create it). But what would probably be best is to make it into a story and then post it on somewhere like Yiffstar/Anthrostar, Fur Affinity or FurRag, then summarize the events in the story and make a link to it so that people can read more if they want. --GreenReaper(talk) 01:21, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks GreenReaper. I have to go to work in a few minutes but I'll do that tomorrow when I wake up :> thanks for the links!

from steam

Hi I know you get rogue edits on here, and I am sure its a pain cleaning them up, I just wanted to bring up an issue that was half resolved to which I had no idea of.

Either a troll or the guy who uses the same name as me posted all his about him over mine, and I have been cleaned up and given this ugly tag saying my location, now while I understand you need to separate furs to build up the wiki, I do not believe another fur should lay take to a name I have been using since recorded at 12/1/2007 in Second Life but generally before this in real life.

Also it turns out I registered at furaffinity 3 days after him but could only use the name steampunkgears or I would have used steam, I have seen to have been a fur from 2006 in Second Life.

Now generally I take this issue as one of identity fraud and because I have registered here as steam before him and because this wiki is taken as a form of registration on furs and information I want my URL put back to http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Steam not http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Steam_%28United_Kingdom and I would like it locked so only I can edit it.

The URL has been changed into a This is a disambiguation page — a navigational aid which lists pages that might otherwise share the same title. If an article link referred you here, you might want to go back and fix it to point directly to the intended page.

But I do not accept Steam Furrys would use that title and I do not accept that steam the game software needs to be published on a furry wiki the only issue is one of rights and hes proved he has no rights to that name due to trying to force his way in though my page posting about himself.

These are quotes from what he added about himself or what ever.

"Steam is not to be confused with the superior and much more sexy/charming/awesome/origional Steam, who is just all around better than this lion thing. raccoons ftw."

"He however contains Lion tendencies and when needed can stand up for himself, unless confronted by a certain raccoon who has like freaky robot stuff everywhere, whats up with that? Can you even call that a fursona? Damn right you can, cause whos going to argue with a guy who's left nostril can second in use as a mixed drink dispenser? certainly not me. "

4chan?

"The all around better Steam who isnt a lion is a former mod of 4chan from 2005-2007. I know what you're thinking HELL YA LETS GET DRUNK AND FUCK CATS! however unlike the lion, raccoon Steam looks down on such behavior and prefers to drink unsweetened teas and black coffee. Why unsweetened? because raccoon steam had his sweet tastebuds ripped off by a freezer, thats why. wanna fight about it?"

"The other steam owns a fucking bar, a biker bar. You want to mess with a bunch of drunk bikers? yes you do, they arent that bad once you get over the assless chaps."

Is this a troll or the real guy or is this him being retarded? and ego tripping about himself and using another account to do it. To which I see is not banned due to griefing me through my own all ready established profile.

You could also say I am ego tripping but I do not have an ego lol, only a personal fursona I have been building and evolving since before 2006 recorded via sl registration as a fur.

If you can not fulfill this request please do at least see what or who has been forceing all that into my profile with the alt account? because I do not aggree with disrespect like that when he could have left me a message and we could have worked it out.

At this point if it was his IP that edited his stuff in either on an alt or his new profile, this is unacceptable to allow to continue.

The bottom line is I was here before him and if he was using steam before me, I do not accept it was in the tense of a fursona, or he would have been on here before me.

Also, may I update my old signatures in my prior Talk posts to reflect the change? I'm not a fan of redirects. -- Natasha Softpaw ( talk | contribs ) 15:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
That's fine as far as I'm concerned. --GreenReaper(talk) 15:29, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

RE: Preview

Thanks for the advise =)! I pretty much already click "show preview" before saving what I'm happy with but I make a lot of changes in my editing. Otherwise I'm not sure what you mean by the page history, could you please explain this a little further? I'm new to Wikifur so the more I know the better and it helps to chat with someone who has experience in this =3.

Thanks!

-Wolven Claw

Each page has its own history - click the "history" tab at the top to see. You can use it to go forwards and backwards in the revisions, seeing what's changed. All changes are listed in the global recent changes linked on the left, and people will often check the revisions that have been made. It's easier to do that if these are all made in one go, as far as possible. If you want some help, I'd suggest dropping into IRC, as there's usually someone around there. Oh, and you can sign your name with ~~~~, giving a result like this: --GreenReaper(talk) 18:06, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Citations for Roma-V

Hello, on my page there are certain areas with [citation needed]. How do I change this? Do I need to provide proof of actions, and if so, how can I do that. Thanks ^.^ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Roma-V (talkcontribs) .

Well, that's a good question - I'm not sure it's something we'd cover at all unless it had some kind of documented proof, as it's not exactly complimentary. :-) Maybe LJ posts or logs? You can add a reference link like this . . . [continued on talk] --GreenReaper(talk) 03:12, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

RSS?

Hiya! I was trying to update my newsreader for the new Wikifur, only to find that there's no RSS feed here. Will one be added/enabled? And if not, why? -- Natasha Softpaw ( talk | contribs ) 15:23, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes there is. Go to Special:Recentchanges - they're linked in the sidebar - or just alter your current URLs to have a /w/ at the front. They are not published in every page because the link then takes up space in every page, even when the vast majority of people don't know about it or don't want it. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 15:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Rollback Privileges/Usergroup

Hello again! Sorry for all the messages on your talk page, but this seems to be the most effective way to reach you about Wikifur-related stuff. Anyway, the rollback usergroup doesn't seem to exist, so I no longer have rollback privileges. Thus, I tried to undo some vandalism on the Transformers article, only to find that there's a spam-listed URL, and regular Undo can't be used. -- Natasha Softpaw ( talk | contribs ) 07:11, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Nice. I've made the group again. Your privileges were transferred, they just weren't active because it doesn't exist. And talk pages are the right place. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 12:16, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Contact info

Hi. I couldn't find an email address to contact the administrators for this site. Could you please provide me with one? I need to get in touch with you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mickel (talkcontribs) .

You can just drop me an email if you are logged in with an account that has an email address set and verified. --GreenReaper(talk) 17:32, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Camp Feral! and Feral! 2010

Heyas! I'm not very good at this...I created a page with info on Feral! 2010 but am unsure how to add the link to the right-side box with dates from 1998 to 2009...any other advice you could offer regarding updating a page like the Camp Feral! page would be greatly appreciated :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Potoroo (talkcontribs) .

Hey, Potoroo - welcome to WikiFur! The page to edit is Template:Feral - you can just copy the last two lines before the footer. In general, if it's {{X}} on the page, you edit [[Template:X]]. If you need any more help, let me know. --GreenReaper(talk) 20:56, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Message From RVDDP2501 - Extinctioners Image licensing information

Hey GreenReaper, I need your help, because of the licensing information useing on the extinctioners image, an RPG magazine or something has gone and used extinctioners images found here onwikifur, i need you help to change the information so that the image are protected and not fair use, all information about this matter can be found here - http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/936790/ - I have spoken to shawntae on FA to which the licensing should be more like this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Marvelwolverine.jpg - please tell me what I should do, I wish to resolve this matter before it gets any worse, I really need your help on this - RVDDP2501 03:20, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

OK. I had a chat with the OTRS guys who can see that ticket, and they state that it was a murky "Sure, you have permission to use this on Wikipedia" email. As no license was specified, the original upload under GFDL was invalid, so there is no problem with you removing it. You should go through each of the images you have uploaded and replace the ConfirmationImageOTRS tag with a fair-use one. You probably want this to be {{fursona}} (or in a few cases {{comic-panel}}). --GreenReaper(talk) 04:17, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Actually, you do not need to do this. I have set a bot to do it for you. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:35, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I have sent a message to Shawntae on FA informing him of your changes, I will let you know what he says and if this hopefully set things right - RVDDP2501 10:44, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Second edit not vandalism. ^^

My second edit wasn't vandalism. Both links in the Chew Fox article linking to the two seperate journal entries on FA have the SAME url. I saved the URL of the original journal before FA went down. My edit was simply fixing the URL to the correct one, albeit the posting cannot be accessed anymore. ^^

Noted, but you still changed it to "9000" when it wasn't. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 03:09, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I just noticed that. The first time was for the laughs, the second time was me editing the article concurrently while you were also reverted the first set of changes and mindlessly ignoring the concurrency error. Sorry about that. ^^;

Request for Review

As it's impossible to leave Spirou a message on his Talk page, and requests for review are being ignored on the article's talk pages, I'll once again point out the draft page is now ready for review. —Xydexx 14:53, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Thank You and Page Help

Thank you so much for helping me with my page (I believe it was you) I really appreciate it and my page looks so much better as a result. I was wondering, though, is there a place that I can go that has the information on how to make the editions that you did? It would be greatly appreciated as I would like to expand my page just a bit, for example, adding subsections and such. Any help you can offer would be great!

...also, if I did this incorrectly, I apologize :( I'm still learning the hang of this and really hope that I haven't somehow botched this up. Apologies in advance if that is the case :(

Thanks a bunch! ^_^ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by KittMouri (talkcontribs) .

Sure thing - have a look at the help section, and in particular the editing and style guide. There are links to more information at the bottom. Oh, and on talk pages, you can sign your posts with ~~~~ at the end, like this: --GreenReaper(talk) 20:44, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Oh, thank you so much! I will check these things out and work a bit more on my page! Thank you! *hugs* ... *tries out signature thing*

Conviction

User AlmightyTora is intentionally trying to cover up new, important information discovered about him: that he is a convicted pedophile. This information passes the "non-public figure" and "no posting of personally detrimental yet factual" litmus tests because 1) The information is very public, provided by a governmental website, 2) Due to his activity in conventions, including ones where minors attend, it is very important that individuals are informed about his conviction in order to make sound decisions to limit his possibility of further sexual abuse. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Isopodic (talkcontribs) .

Responded (generally) on talk page.

heads up: stale official pages

I just noticed a few official wikifur pages that still refer to the old wikia host.

Check my edit history for one attempt I made to update things, but the admins will probably need to go through manually and double check. Plus I'm not about to make a habit on messing with important pages.

Just a heads up that there's obsolete information present in official Wikifur documentation.

Shentino 03:34, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

I thought I'd gone through and changed those, but think I missed them because I hadn't set the appropriate search options. Thanks for the heads-up. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:02, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

help with template

I followed the directions for the prod subst, using {{subst:prod|reason}} as directed and it spit back an error.

Is the template glitchy or did I goof up?

The attempts were made on the espernet article, if you need to check any logs. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shentino (talkcontribs) .

I've fixed things up so {{prod}} should now work. It's never really been used that much, in part because "notability" per-se is not generally a concern for WikiFur. We care more about whether or not it has any relevance to furry fandom, and we have a relatively low limit on how much is required. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:47, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Personal exclusion for Crusader Cat

Crusader Cat has made a request on my user talk page that I'm interpreting as a request for personal exclusion. His is not an obvious case to justify denying the request, but it's certainly a little iffy. What do you think? --mwalimu 05:59, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

I think you should probably open up a discussion on Talk:Crusader Cat. --GreenReaper(talk) 13:47, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

self rfd

I just spoke with the fur in question, kaoru, and he was not in any condition for me to mention that I had created an article about him. As of right now he isn't even aware of this article's existence and I think he would be very upset if he found out that I was the one that created it.

Since I was the one who created the article in the first place, I was under the impression I could post a prod on it. Nobody else has made any edits anyway.

I suppose I'm upset that this page is apparently sticking around whether I want it to or not just because I had the misfortune of creating it prematurely.

Shentino 23:56, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

That's understandable, but honestly we don't tend to delete articles unless there's no basis for having the topic here. We do offer exclusion, but as that is an active rejection of information about a certain person, now and in the future, we only offer it as an option to that person.
Like it says at the bottom, "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then don't submit it here." If they become aware of its presence, and if they are troubled by it, then they are welcome to contact us at that time. --GreenReaper(talk) 23:56, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Well, I can't blame you. I need to bite the bullet. If he does get upset enough to go to the trouble of registering here and asking for its removal, I'm probably going to lose him forever. Then again, as cold unforgiving logic reveals, in that case I shouldn't have created it in the first place. Play with fire, get burned.
I will not discuss this issue any further, since you are clearly not at fault here. I'll do my best to notify him when he's calmed down. Shentino 00:02, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
In all honesty, I think you're being melodramatic. There is a stub here about a person, which does not even mention their real life name or location. Big deal. :-) This is the Internet! Anyone can start a website about anything. Given that they share their name with a major fictional character who's likely to trump them in any search results, I don't think there's much to be concerned about. --GreenReaper(talk) 00:09, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

message from RVDDP2501 - reporting possible vandalism

Hey GreenReaper, I wanted to inform you that a user named Hoppy Bunny had done some changes to several extinctioners articles including the main one, adding all sorts of stupid information including pokemon related content, I have corrected the changes but I was wondering if you could see if this guy is a vandal and figure out what is to be done, thank you - http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Hoppy_Bunny - RVDDP2501 11:14, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
