The Den (furry house)

The Den is a furry share-house in Arana Hills, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Its occupants (Denizens) are Bingo Dingo, KibaWolf, MistyStriker and Claw-o-form.

History

The Den was formed on April 26, 2005 in the Brisbane suburb of Carina Heights. The founding furs were Jaffa Ferel, Dimenianz and MistyStriker. As with most furry households, the occupants changed frequently due to the drama that follows furs around. After problems with the current real estate and repair requests to the house being ignored, The Den was relocated to Arana Hills in June 2008 and was integrated into a previous furry house knows as The Burrows.

Social facts

The Den attends the Brisbane Coffee Night every Tuesday. They also attend monthly Brisfurs art jams. The Den has also been host to various furry parties including birthdays, Halloween and New Years events. In early 2006, a group of University students sought out the household for a furry documentary they were filming. Members of the house were interviewed and the short was named "The Velvet Underground." Misty, Bingo, Jaffa and Dimmie each have copies of the short on DVD.

Quirks

• At the original Den in Carina Heights, there is a square of concrete in the sidewalk with the Denizens names and various furry insignia carved into it.
• Due to not being able to drill holes in the floor, everyone's net cables go -outside- the house and re-enter downstairs to join the router. *This was rectified in Dec 2008 when a proper network was finally constructed.*
• There are two cats - Sambuca (Boo) who belongs to Kiba and Disaster (Dizzy) who belongs to Misty.
• A large unfriendly dog is known to appear in the backyard at random times during the night.
• Peoples congregate in the hallways in this house as well, usually near the top of the stairs that lead to the lower level.
• The mailbox barely stands upright. *Said mailbox was destroyed and lost in a powerful storm in Nov 2008. The new mailbox stands up much better and has "The Den" on it in shiny silver letters.*
• The walls and floors are notoriously thin, leading to some people hearing things they wish they hadn't.
• Denizens refer to one of their neighbours as "The crazy cat lady" due to the fact that she has introduced herself more than once and tends to worry that the cats of the Den are not cared for properly.
• Combining all individual collections, the Den is home to a few hundred DVDs and books that take up more bookcases than there are room for.
• The Den is home to an Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3, Nintendo 64, and a Playstation 2. Guitar Hero tends to be the most popular game.
