ArrJaySketch (also known as RJ or RJ Sketch is the artist formerly known as Tremaine (also known as Tremaine Hayes Fox or Tremaine H. Fox), is a brony and furry artist. He lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, with his wife Mistletoe, who was also a furry artist.
Contents
Fandom involvement[edit]
ArrJaySketch discovered furry fandom in August of 1996 through a magazine called "The Cartoonist and Comic Book Artist". There he discovered a page from Shanda the Panda comic, penciled by Michele Light and inked by Steve Addlesee. In the article, Steve mentioned finding work through the newsgroup alt.fan.furry. RJ investigated the newsgroup and fell in love with the concept of furries.
Shortly thereafter he discovered and joined the Squeaky Clean Furry Archive. He drew furries and other cartoon characters most of his life and didn't even know others were interested in that sort of thing till he got into college at age 20 and found the Internet.
FurryMUCK[edit]
From the SCFA ArrJaySketch discovered FurryMUCK in October, 1996. That was when he picked his original name, Tremaine, based out of a book of 20,001 baby names. He chose it because it sounded neat to him, and it is a Celtic place name that means "Stone House". Some have asked if his name was based on the character Trelane from Star Trek, but the only similarity is in the homophone.
He discovered and joined the VCL in November of 1996. He had regularly updated many web sites for a time, but has pulled down all of his artwork everywhere as of December 2011.
Convention attendance[edit]
Since he first attended Duckon in 1997, Tremaine was once a regular convention attendee and dealer at Mephit Furmeet, Midwest FurFest, and occasionally Anthrocon until 2010. At this time he has no plans to attend any furry conventions, but he has been known to go to a number of brony conventions.
Pony Fan[edit]
ArrJaySketch has been a fan of My Little Pony since the 1980s, so when My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic started airing and gaining popularity, it wasn't just the latest fad to jump on. RJ was all too happy to actively take part in a fandom he had long kept silent about. In fact, RJ had honestly gotten involved with furry fandom more out of an interest in animation, and a desire to meet other animation fans. Pony fandom had offered him exactly what he was looking for for quite a long time.
Hiatus and Return[edit]
As of December 2011, he went on hiatus from the fandom due to a variety of reasons.
As of June 2017, he was slowly doodling some furry art and intending to get involved with the fandom again somewhat, but nowhere near the level he used to. He was not planning on re-uploading the artwork he has taken down, but he did so in August 2018.[1][2]
He has dropped the Tremaine name and the hedgefox fursona, with no plans to pick up another fursona.[3]
