FurryMap.net was a website and mapping service created in 2008 by Kimura to create a database of furries around the world. The idea was based off The Furry Map of Germany, originally made by Eisfuchs and was built on the OpenStreetMap and OpenLayers mapping technology. As of May 5, 2019, FurryMap.net is offline due to software no longer being supported.
Improvements from The Furry Map of Germany
The Furry Map of Germany was being gradually replaced by FurryMap.net due to a number of new capabilities with the new technology, which included:
- Zoomable map by OpenStreetMap
- User profiles
- Usage of OpenID
- Multiple access-levels
