Revision as of 17:24, 22 September 2013

The Comic of the Week is a way to feature the large number of high-quality comics that are popular among members of the furry fandom - and perhaps a few that aren't yet as popular as they deserve to be, too. You can take part by nominating a comic for featuring.

Browsable overview of past comics

Nominate a comic

Please nominate up to three comics below (preface with *). Comics must have an existing article - if you want to feature a comic without an article, write the article first, then nominate it. Note that both general audience and mature nominations are welcome.

Others may support a nomination with indented comments (preface with :, and sign your name with ~~~~. Support is not the only (or even primary factor) for featuring - the justification given for featuring in the nomination will weigh heavily, as will availability of a high quality panel or title image representing the comic in the article, and of course the article itself.

Nominations

With a better article I'd support that. Right now it's just two short paragraphs and no picture. --GreenReaper(talk) 15:24, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
On hiatus right now. --GreenReaper(talk) 00:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Would have been good but the comic does not appear to be updated on that site any more. --GreenReaper(talk) 00:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Worthwhile, but I would lean towards webcomics versus print ones, or at least an online preview of such a comic, if only so readers can follow the links to some amount of material. Jigsaw Forte 17:31, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Is it too much to ask that a nominated article for a webcomic use the webcomic article template, and perhaps some actual images of the comic? Seems silly to have an article but not show off some of the featured artwork, after all. -- Jigsaw Forte 02:59, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
The webcomics template, yes, that's too much. If people don't want to use it, that's their call. I think it is important to have at least one picture (otherwise there is nothing to put on the front page, for a start). --GreenReaper(talk) 05:06, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Seems to only have had a couple of strips . . . --GreenReaper(talk) 00:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Needs a better article, though, and a picture of the two featured felines. Spaz Kitty 23:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Needs a better article, of course. Spaz Kitty 20:44, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Up-and-coming comic with a believable cast in a familiar setting; starting to pick up the pace now. Has a small fanbase already, but needs more exposure. It's a comic that I think shows that an anthro comic in a terrestrial setting need not be mature to get noticed. Sy01 20:28, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Underground favorite in need of further exposure. Lucifer 20:01, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
A comic that makes you think, if you're really reading it. Has never missed an update. Not mindless entertainment, though there's no doubt it's entertaining. --71.186.195.44 18:22, 10 March 2010

An antro illiteration of the famous novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. --69.253.196.216 21:56, 11 April 2010

A well done comic by an amazing artist. --"I'm not always right, but I am never wrong." 17:27, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Very intriguing story, good character development, SFW and NSFW versions to choose from and very well drawn. I think it deserves more exposure. --76.202.194.57 14:42, 30 April 2010

How is this not nominated yet?! ----Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 13:46, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

A fantasy/adventure webxomic with a dedicated update history, currently twice a week. It's about time we added something new here. --Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 19:42, 15 July 2012 (EDT)

I like this comic! It be drawed good! --SomeoneElse

Pending nominations

The following nominations are for comics for which no WikiFur article has yet been created; once that is done, they may be moved to the regular nominations category above.

Great comic, but the article needs more work. --mwalimu 23:37, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
The artist has indicated that this comic may be ending its run soon. I consider it to be one of the all-time classics among furry comics and I think it deserves to be featured here before it ends its run. What can we do to bring this article up to snuff so we can feature it? --mwalimu 21:10, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Seconded!--Graveyard Greg
With a better article, certainly. --GreenReaper(talk) 00:26, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
I have since made adjustments to the comic's article, but ironically the comic is updated so infrequently now I'm not sure if it would still be eligible. --Equestrian
It'll do. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:24, 25 April 2011 (EDT)

2010

While not self-titled as a furry comic, this story features a world where magic allows most animalistic mythical creatures to disguise themselves in varying degrees of anthropomorphism, even to the extent of appearing fully human. Features such characters as gryphons, sphinxes, white stags, harpies, and dragons. floppybelly
Sure. There's no time like the present. Let's get this up and work through some of the backlog in subsequent weeks. --GreenReaper(talk)
It's good enough now. Featured. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:12, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Funny yet gory, serious yet over the top; and well drawn too! Gets my vote! :D --Tori Belliachi 18:27, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Week 38: Carpe Diem, by Graveyard Greg and others (Sensitive and believable treatments of GLTB issues without becoming adult-rated, all furry cast with real life personalities, available both in print and online, long-established run) --Altivo 16:02, 19 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    Seconded. --mwalimu 20:39, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
I would like to recant my nomination for the time being, for a couple of reasons: First, while the comic itself is great, the WikiFur article needs more work. Second, the comic is on hiatus at the moment, and I think we would honor the comic better if we feature it at a time when it is updating regularly. --mwalimu 18:17, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
    Thirded. --Aelius 19:06, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for the nomination (and the kind words, Mwalimu!), but I respectfully decline being a comic of the week until the comic claws its way out of hiatus. --Graveyard Greg
It appears to be now - at least, it's as good a time as any. Featured. --GreenReaper(talk) 00:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Week 49: Lackadaisy, by Tracy Butler. Nominator's comment "Hi, I'm not a user here but I really think this deserves an awful lot of praise. http://www.lackadaisycats.com/ " —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.100.187.115 (talkcontribs) .
The artwork does look nice. It seems to be pretty new, of course (just the four comics so far). --GreenReaper(talk) 19:50, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
I think the article is currently too small for Comic of the Week status. --EarthFurst 17:49, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Fortunately someone wrote a good one on Wikipedia, which we've imported. It's developed to 22 comics this year, which is about a bi-weekly update schedule. Seems good enough, and worth noting. --GreenReaper(talk) 02:30, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

October 2006

  • Week 43: Atomic Mouse by Al Fago and his brother Vince (nice article with pictures) --GreenReaper(talk) 16:11, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Seconded. I looked at all the nominated articles and Atomic Mouse looks like the second best article of them all. (note: I don't know much about the comic) --EarthFurst 21:19, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Week 42: Deer Me, by Sheryl Schopfer --Gene Breshears
Seconded. I like the animation style, simple, elegent, and a nice balance of cartoonish nature with complex figures, especially in the later commics. ----Leo Delgrith 18:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
I had to vote for this just for the bit where Viana was roped into helping with the convention again. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 03:52, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Week 38: Lacunae, by Silverblue
Strong second. I looked at all the nominated articles and Lacunae looks like the best article of them all. (note: I don't know much about the comic) --EarthFurst 21:19, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Week 29: Kevin and Kell, by Bill Holbrook --Duncan da Husky 15:45, 19 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    Seconded.--Tom Howling 10:04, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
It's a good, long-running comic. Our article on it sucks, though. Heck, I edited it last, and that was back in February. :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 04:49, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
    Thirded!--Graveyard Greg
  • Week 28: Y?, by Chad Burbidge --Skunklogo.gif(U)(T)(C)
    Seconded. --SpazKitty
    Thirded. --Kitch 17:36, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Similar to Mwalimu's note above, Y? is currently on hiatus while the author writes the next story arc. Spaz Kitty 19:58, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Fourthed It's out of hiatus now, so now would be a perfect time to feature it, IMHO. I like it's unique (And iconoclaustic to the fandom) animation style, and it's slice-of-life story. --Leo Delgrith 15:08, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
