Equivamp out of the fur.

Equivamp a furry artist, funny animal artist, and sequential artist , was born on January 26, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After living briefly on a mountain in California for a time and learning how to speak, her family moved halfway across the country to Chanute, Kansas to be closer to family. Her fursona is a psi-vampiric zebra-pegasus that can shapeshift into a rat. In the past, it was able to become a grizzly bear, but this was scrapped. She is a caretaker in the babyfur community, and she caretakes Vixie Vixen. n 2009, she was diagnosed with O.D.D..

She is a thespian, having dabbled in stage acting and she is curious and seeking amateur voice acting roles.

Equivamp has been often seen online as Kila or Kila Brija, and on YouTube she is Equivampthefurry. Online, if her avatar is not a picture of her fursona, it is a feline eye with her username on it, or an animated clip from the her favorite television series, Scrubs. She is a therian, believing that in a past life she was a rat — perhaps even a male one &mdash. In the current life, she is biologically a human female, but identifies as genderfluid. However, for the sake of making things simple, she insists that the 'she' program is used to describe her, but that she never be called a girl, rather, a "person" or other such moniker. She is an Agnostic theist, with beleifs leaning toward Protestanism, but is very open minded, being Pro-Choice, and supoprting gay marriage. She herself is also asexual.

After her comic, Heroes, featuring a fan-race that she named Anthronasi became so popular among those in her area, but explaining the characters and race to each and every one that asked, she created OnasiCatpedia, the Anthronasi Wiki.

Previously she was mated to DNide4Evr, but the two split up due to lack of interest.[1] While the two are still friends, Equivamp is currently single.

She spends much of her time drawing, reading, writing, and roleplaying on sites like Antilia and SoFurry.

Contributions to the Fandom

Equivamp discovered the Furry Fandom sometime in 2009 when a search for "werecheetah" resulted in a search for lycanthropy, which in turn led to anthropomorphic and ultimately Furry. Immediately taking an interest, she looked it up on Wikipedia. "Hot dog," she said, "There are more nerds like me?" And thus, she immersed herself in the fandom without hesitation. The first "Furry" site she joined was Antilia, and the first furry she interacted with was DNide4Evr, who was very helpful and welcomed her to join the active roleplay on that site. After a while, she was convinced to join other sites, such as SoFurry, The Furry Forum, FurAffinity, MyFur, and FurNation, among others. Where possible, she has contributed a large amount of Furry art. While most of it depicts characters designed with the Furry Fandom in mind, she also draws a lot of funny animals.

She created a few anthropomorphic species, and created the FANWO group.

She has introduced many to the fandom, including Vixie Vixen, Radar, Alice, Nera, and Reyju Reynolds, due to "a lack of furs" in her area.

Once, she was called a furfag, and responded with, "I prefer the term CigaPet," thus coining the term.

She has contributed to many Wikifur articles, as well as creating several new ones, uploading files, and reverting vandalism. She is a fursuiter — unfortunately she only has prosthetics — tail, ears, masquerade-style mask — of a tiger, and though she feels a strong connection to tigers, and all big cats, really, she does not consider one part of her fursonae. She wants a full fursuit — or more — but they are very expensive. She also wears a purple dog collar, occasionally with a matching leash.

Strangely enough, her fursona is not, nor has it ever been that of her theriotype, the brown rat, also known as the Norway Rat. Her spirit animal is the North American Grizzly Bear

She is a lifestyler, and often wishes to become an animal — though it is not always her fursona's species she wishes to become. She often jokes that, as she could not make up her mind about what animal she should be, God simply forced her soul into a human body and "this is the horrible atrocity that resulted." She walks on the balls of her feet occasionally to give herself a more digitigrade stance.

She plans to go to Central Midwest Furmeet in 2011.

One of Equivamp's works that has gained some fame within and outside of the furry community, mostly in the Therian community.

Equivamp actually doesn't mind trolls, though she seems to hate Super-Furry with a passion. [2] She has jokingly threatened that she was "leaving the fandom forever!" The proposed furmeet, KIFF, is planned by her.

Fursonae

Equivamp has two fursonae; one is a wolf with feline characteristics — she calls it a simbid — that she uses to represent herself on DeviantART.

Previous Fursona

Equivamp has had other fursonae in the past, including Trinity Allen, a fwox. Originally her fursona was a Meegar , a mouse-like alien quadruped species she created that can control and create electricity, then a hominid dragon/alligator combo — though these were before she'd ever heard of the term — and it soon became a male cheetah named Harek, then a nameless, genderless anthropomorphic hyena. The dragon-alligator scalie fursona is once again her fursona. [3] Originally, it was the size of an average human, but due to AVEN roleplays, became a macro character.

Fursona Description

Pokesona

File:Pokesona.jpg
Equivamp's Pokesona

Equivamp's pokesona is a lion-like Luxray from the popular Pokemon franchise. The hair on her pokesona resembles that of her main fursona so it is easily recognized.

Creative Works

Visual art

Equivamp has a passion for art, both furry and non-furry related. Mostly she works in traditional media, though she has dabbled in digital media, animation, and photography. She refuses to depict yiff in her artwork, but she has drawn a few "artistic nudes".[4] She has also done some modeling when she was younger.

Commission Info

Generally, Equivamp's commissions tend to be free and always open. However, it is probably better to check with her first. She also does spontaneous gift art, generally to other furries, often without having ever spoken to them before but deeming them respectable enough to be worthy of it. Examples include LilFuzz and Tavi Munk. The quality of commissions tends to vary, one described as being "choppy" while others being above the standard of her normal work. Also, it can take quite a long time for some commissions to be finished, while others get finished right away. She does not do them in order; she claims this is because her "brain doesn't work in order".

Inspiration

Equivamp's inspiration as an artist came from several sources, Mostly Warner Brothers and the late Preston Blair, though her art also shows influence from Disney and MGM.

Literature

Equivamp's writing rarely gets published online, as she does not want it stolen. She writes poems, novels, children's books, and short stories. Her favorite kind of poem is freeform.

Common themes in her writing include:

  • Transformation (generally human to animal, or were-centric)
  • Correcting mistakes (not often successfully)
  • Politics
  • Science
  • Religion
  • Romantic Comedy/Romantic Tragedy
  • Star-crossed lovers
  • Solitary odysseys
  • Epiphanies and Emotional Turmoil
  • Mental instability
  • Moving past grief

ORM

ORM is a novel-in-progress by the furry writer Equivamp. She also has plans for a follow-up series, Tales from ORM once the original is finished.

Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

ORM is set on Earth, somewhere in the near distant future. The air is nearly unbreathable, and in fact humans need to wear special face masks because the air is so toxic. Early on in the story it is established that this is because of pollution. Though an Ozone-Restoring-Machine has been put in place, mankind has decided to abandon their homeworld in a mass exodus to Mars, where an ORM was put in years ago. One scientist believes that Earth should not be abandoned completely, saying humanity must leave its mark. He develops a way to combine human and mammalian animal genes, making anthropomorphic, bipedal animals, and publishes his work not long before earthlings become martians at a science convention. Though in the beginning he treats his creations as equals and companions, his true emotions are eventually exposed when humans begin to die mysteriously and the survivors wish to return to Earth. his creations, not giving up their new home without a fight, refuse to let them and cut themselves off from contact with their mother species. The scientist becomes enraged at the insubordination and vows to destroy them, every last traitor. Here is where the author includes biblical references, for the scientist lands on earth in a secret location to gather those that remain faithful to him. Once his followers are safely on a ship, he sends a beam of light known as a 'Phlud' which stands fr "Photo-lunar direction" and is a play on the word 'flood' to wipe out his creation, an allegory of the Noah's Ark story with a darker twist. Many are killed, however, far more survive, since the Phlud can only affect specific locations at a time, and the cities have long since been evacuated. they can only hang on for so long, however, and one of the 'followers' on the ship betray the scientist and all others on board, killing her creator and redirecting the beam toward the only populated city on Mars, quickly and efficiently making humans an extinct species.

Did you know?

  • ORM even references the furry fandom, towards the beginning, when the scientist describes his newfound fame:
"Everyone was calling. [...] Most, though, were from a subculture of people that called themselves 'furries', and were part of the 'Furry Fandom', which were fans of wereanimals and bipeds when normally you saw a quadruped. They would ask questions [...] such as if I could turn them into one of my creatures, if I would send them a picture of one that looks like their fursona--whatever the hell that was. Even they were unable to describe it to me in a way I [...] could understand. One [...] asked if he could purchase one of them! Purchase! As if the Slave Trade hasn't been illegal since that Lincoln fellow was running the small bit!"
  • It also mentions lycanthropy to question the scientists mental health ("Lycanthropy? That's a disease! The doctor is moon-mad!") and bestiality to question his sexual orientation ("Half-human, half-animal hybrids? Perhaps he's simply a zoophile, and creates these because he cannot have biological children with that hexapedal cat of his."

Quotes about the Fandom

  • "I wish people I don't know would stop petting me--it's weird!"
  • "Oh, sure, blame the furry."
  • "Yeah, we're all weird but at least I'm not weird in that way."
  • "I would just like to say for the record that I am in no way affiliated with the Burned Fur movement. I never was."[5]

Trivia

  • When unsure what to say, she coughs shortly.
  • She always wears a core blance bracelet, because she is clumsy.
  • She has alektorophobia (fear of Chickens), mild cynophobia (fear of Dogs), extreme Arachnophobia, and she is paranoid.
  • She nuzzles people when trying to comfort them.
  • She was banned from Encyclopedia Dramatica after her first contribution. Long story short, it had to do with the offended challenge.

Species

  • Meegars. See the main article at Meegar.
  • Simbidians or Simbids for short. There are two kinds of Simbid, white Simbids and black. All Simbids arethe direct result of a genetic mutation caused by attack to the DNA of an individual by radioactive bacteria. The bacteria targets humans.
    • Appearance
      • All Simbids roar and look like canines.
        • White Simbids have the appearance of white wolves, with retractable claws. Male Simbids have a lion-like tail. They have black and/or teal markings.
        • Black Simbids resemble black jackals with either feline or no tail. They cannot roar and have growths of feathers resembling wings on their backs, though none can fly. The males have either a mane or a brush of stiff fur along their backs, which may or may not be the same color as the rest of the body. The females may have a brush, but never a mane. They have white teal, and/or pink markings

Characters

Her characters have a few things in common with each other: none of them are avians. In fact, all of them are furries except from one dropped book, which was scrapped after she realized how close the plot in it was to the one in a Star Wars game, Knights of the Old Republic Many of her roleplay characters — particularly the females — are six feet, six inches tall, or as she describes it, "Amazonian-sized". Many are also thin and muscular, though often, by her own choice, terrible weapon fighters, great fist-fighters. Equivamp's characters are also knkown for their unique name, in that each has a story behind why she chose it.

  • Fur Elise — Purple vulinian in Tales form ORM. A pianist. Often heard playing the song — as her name implies — Fur Elise.
File:Wolf with Sunglasses.jpg
a bust drawing of Equivamp's character, Isaac
  • Trinity Allen, or just Trinity, is one of Equivamp's most ambiguous characters. One description of her history can be found here, while another can be found here, though there are several others that do not get written online or ever leave the confines of her head. What remains constant with Trinity is that she is a Folf (though originally she was a pure-bred wolf) that is seventy-five percent wolf, twenty-five percent fox. She is the daughter of the demigod Luna, though she often does not know it, or is not on good terms with her divine grandmother. She originates from Cerulea, in a country nearly uninhabited, except by her family, which were once slaves to the necromancer Nenta. This civilization is an idealistic communism with an economy is based around Performance arts. She speaks both a heavily accented English and her own, unnamed language of Equivamp's creation. She is a dancer/singer, and tends to carry a large knife.
Mona Ketra.

Clarification

Equivamp's name is not to be confused with the fanfiction writer Equivamp, because she hates the Twilight Saga and would never write a fanfiction, only a parody.

As well as being a furry, Equivamp considers herself Otherkin, and is an advocate of peace between the two groups, acknowleding their seperateness and hoping other 'kin will not start a flame war based on the fact that she likes anthropomorphic animals.

Equivamp does not, nor has she ever had, an account on Neopets by the name of ryleestempaccount, so if you see any articles that suggest so, remove it. It was added by her brother. Equivamp's username on Neopets is equivamp.
