Furp, real name Patrick Reed (8 November 1979[1][2]–18 February 2009), also known as fire_pyro and Evil Dwagon, was a long-term member of furry fandom, providing operations and first-aid assistance at conventions, including Anthrocon, Califur, FurFright, Midwest FurFest and Rocket City FurMeet. He was a systems administrator and EMT, working at one point in Camp Victory in Iraq, and in Kyrgyzstan.[3][4]

Furp was killed on the night of February 18, 2009 while riding his motorcycle near his work at the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base in California. [5][6] Initial reports indicated a drunk marine was involved; although there was later some uncertainty,[7] police reports reportedly confirm the initial assessment.[8] In January 2010, the driver, Jason Robert Reyna changed his plea to guilty. [9]

A memorial community was set up at   remember_furp, which was later noted in a story on his death by the Hi-Desert Star, a local community newspaper.[10]

Before his death, Furp had plans on making another fursuit of his character. The materials and what little has been worked on, is set to go off at the charity auction at Anthrocon 09.
