You know, if you're aiming for NPOV, you might want to consider instituting a rule about, uh, not making articles about yourself. They tend to be one-sided at best, and blatant advertisments at worst. And the authors tend to react rather badly to other people editing 'their' writeup.

But then again, [http://www.everything2.com/ E2] is not NPOV and is also quite awesome. --[[User:Xax|Xax]] 19:02, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)

:We're not, exactly. I accept that most articles about users are going to be positive. I encourage that, actually, as it's the negative ones that seem to cause trouble. See [http://www.livejournal.com/community/wikifur/2177.html?thread=6017 this discussion] for more on my views about vanity pages, and less important pages in general. Basically, what's appropriate for Wikipedia may not be appropriate for us. --{{UT|GreenReaper}} 19:12, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I'm not exactly sure how templates work, Xax, but it sounds like a great idea. May I recommend you approach [[K. M. Hirosaki]] with the same suggestion regarding his [[Blue Forest]] series? I say go for it, but help a doddering young fool and give me some explanation as to how such a template works :) --[[User:Osfer|Osfer]]

:Heh. Basically, they work like any other template we've got so far-- you put a <nowiki>{{maranatha}}</nowiki> on the articles that should have it, and it shows up as something like "(article name) is part of a series on [[Maranatha]]" and then some links to other related story info (like [[Maranatha City]] or characters or whatever else you think would be pertinent.)

:The downside would be that you'd probably have to be the one to keep it updated with all the various information, and also put it on pages that I forgot about or didn't notice. --[[User:Xax|Xax]] 16:44, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

NPOV / Vanity Pages

You know, if you're aiming for NPOV, you might want to consider instituting a rule about, uh, not making articles about yourself. They tend to be one-sided at best, and blatant advertisments at worst. And the authors tend to react rather badly to other people editing 'their' writeup.

But then again, E2 is not NPOV and is also quite awesome. --Xax 19:02, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)

We're not, exactly. I accept that most articles about users are going to be positive. I encourage that, actually, as it's the negative ones that seem to cause trouble. Maranatha

I'm not exactly sure how templates work, Xax, but it sounds like a great idea. May I recommend you approach K. M. Hirosaki with the same suggestion regarding his Blue Forest series? I say go for it, but help a doddering young fool and give me some explanation as to how such a template works :) --Osfer

Heh. Basically, they work like any other template we've got so far-- you put a {{maranatha}} on the articles that should have it, and it shows up as something like "(article name) is part of a series on Maranatha" and then some links to other related story info (like Maranatha City or characters or whatever else you think would be pertinent.)
The downside would be that you'd probably have to be the one to keep it updated with all the various information, and also put it on pages that I forgot about or didn't notice. --Xax 16:44, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)
