With no official resurrection in sight, fan-made "private" game servers have come online. The first originally called Planet Forever (now defunct) with two others that have recently appeared to replace it, The Scourge of Abidan/The Anubian War and Earth Eternal Reboot are now around for Earth Eternal players to enjoy.

As of June 20th, 2016, Earth Eternal Reboot is now partially offline due to a merger between Earth Eternal Reboot and Scourge of Abidan. The administrator of Earth Eternal Reboot has been accepted as a developer for it's competition and has voluntarily decided to make his own service a secondary priority. Earth Eternal Reboot still functions primarily as a testing ground and sandbox, it actively recommends the player base to use Scourge of Abidan's game service instead for gaming.

Earth Eternal is a browser based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Iron Realms Entertainment. The official game servers have been removed due to Sparkplay Media going out of business. However, as of May 2024, 1 private server ("Terra Aeterna") exists.

Gameplay and development

Earth Eternal featured a distinctive anthropomorphic element, with 22 available races for player characters, each of which is based around a particular species of animal. In the setting of Earth Eternal, human beings have vanished and are creatures of myth and legend, while many landmarks and signs of human civilization - such as the Eiffel Tower - still remain upon the earth. Various animals have evolved to replace man as the intelligent rulers of the world.

The developers of the game have expressed that whether or not Earth Eternal is a "furry" game is a matter of perspective, and that they did not know of the furry fandom when creating it. They also state that there is no objection to furry fans in conjunction with the game.

Earth Eternal was bought by Japanese online game company Sankando. On July 21, 2011, the Earth Eternal website was reopened and the game was released in North America in Summer 2011; however, as of November 24, 2011 at 9 PM EST, the game and website went offline permanently.

Private servers

With no official resurrection in sight, fan-made "private" game servers have come online: Terra Aeterna, Planet Forever (now defunct), Earth Eternal Reboot (now defunct), The Anubian War (now defunct).

As of June 20th, 2016, Earth Eternal Reboot went offline due to a merger between Earth Eternal Reboot and Scourge of Abidan. The administrator of Earth Eternal Reboot was accepted as a developer for it's competition and has voluntarily decided to make his own service a secondary priority. Earth Eternal Reboot functioned primarily as a testing ground and sandbox for some time, but is no longer available.

On Feb. 18th, 2022, "The Anubian War" developer LiskaQuicksilver announced on the Anubian War forum that "due to unforseen circumstances that were beyond our control, both the Anubian War website and teh Valkal's Shadow game server went offline mid-September, but, that is not the end of Earth Eternal... You can find us at EE's new home [at the new private server, Terra Aeterna] as well as the EE discord."

On May 10th, 2024, KitsuLiska stated on the EE discord that "Terra Aeterna is still online and playable".
